The one month membership does not begin until the game goes Gold and you will receive all of this months member items. We got a one month membership for the kids today, so I can tell everyone what came with that $9.95 purchase.

I have to agree with wdwdreamin too, in that when I bought into the Australian Founder Membership a month ago, because of the Australian dollar exchange rate, the membership ended up being less too.       It's also nice that none of these memberships options will start to countdown to an expiration date, until the game goes Gold too.

As far as the Welcome Kits, I am assuming this is a real item - that has not been shipped yet??  (I remember checking something off when ordering, if I wanted this or not.  I opted yes, but haven't received anything yet)   So I don't have any clue as to what this is or what a difference might be?


Australian Memberships get the following, as opposed to the monthly membership options:

50,000 credits  vs.  30,000 credits
3 months of membership comes with this package  vs.  the one month
20 family accounts  vs.  10 family accounts
VIP Pin (in game)   both get this from what I can tell

Yes, you do get a Horse with the Australian Package too.  You receive the Australian Brumby Horse, I believe a different horse than the original Founder's Package, and possibly different than the monthly membership too.  VFK states on their Membership information "Your very own brumby with stable room - the only horse able to take you on an adventure in the rugged Australian Outback."

Maybe Princess or King can clarify for us what horse exactly comes with the monthly membership options for this month?  I'm not sure.

Wow, Astro, you really covered everything! Woot!  The Brumby horse was what the kids have from the monthly. It did come with the stable and the paddock rooms.

I just love horses. These remind me of when I was a little girl and I used to have a "plan" to save my allowance to purchase and board a horse of my own. Of course I had big dreams and a little piggy bank, but I was one of those girls with horse everything. We had family friends who had horses and I would do anything to get to spend time with the horses. I would help brush them, feed them, clean their hooves, and yep - I even enjoyed cleaning the "duty" out of the stable if it meant getting to ride.

That is one of my goals to get some of this nerve damage reversed in my feet. I want to be able to get back on a horse again. But, until then I can ride through VFK. If you look closely at your character when you are on the horse, the head and body move like when you are actually riding. very Cool!

Yep Pink - Credits and Clothing are a part of the deal. When the kids signed up they got 30,000 credits initially and they get 1,000 credits a day upon sign in. They also now have access to members clothing. I think Gold is still a bit away, so for now this is a good way to get member benefits until then.

Yes and No. You pay $10.00 now and do not start paying monthly until they go gold then you can cancel. That is what King and Princess are plaing to do with there kids. Just go on one family account. Or incase you were wondering yes you can belong to one than one family. So if you decide to do this till gold (which means no more testing) then you are still in mine. So I would go for it. To just get that horse

When I logged into her character (getting her caught up on the epic quests, she doesn't have her fairy/mermaid/wolf magic), and then went to buy her a blue gown, it said she couldn't because she wasn't a member. Now do family members that aren't the main account NOT have membership to buy the member only specials?! Now it is letting her do the epic quests, which at least the mermaid one says members only, so I'm guessing it does recognize her membership at least at some level. Before I send a message to the blackhole connact us, I thought I would check and see if it is something her character should be able to do? Or do I have to buy everything and trade it to her? If I do, will she be able to even take it and wear it?

I don't know if that is something that would come when it goes Gold or not, but nothing was mentioned in any of the transactions or responses. And I see that just the main account holder gets these, not the added family members. Too bad, would have liked the stuff for kid's character too, but not enough to get her a seperate account hehe. Incidently, no email confirming purchase was received, just the when I logged on with the character the message I had received the room & items.

What worries me is i have e-mailed three times over the past week, for them to explain what i would be getting, and they have not replied. So why would i give money to people that can not be bothered to reply to a question about membership, and no i can not phone as i live in the uk , and could buy a real horse for the price of the phone call. lol
I am a little upset about not getting a reply, so at the moment i am still pondering about going ahead.

I believe this is correct.  Only the MAIN ACCOUNT HOLDER on a Membership can purchase the Members Only Items.  However, they can trade them to family members - and the family members can use the items.  So it does sound like you being the main account holder will need to buy the items and trade them to her.  She will then be able to wear them.

Members only items will not even show in a trade window to a non-member.

I am going to try to post pictures when I get a chance. It looks like only the one member account can shop on this tab. Family members can not see the items or purchase them. We tried trading the items. They were tradeable to people who are a member of a family, but I could not trade to someone who was not a member or family member. So it would seem you have to be a member account or family member to be able to trade the items.

Wow ~ I don't know what to say about the horse issue??  I'm as confused as you.      I personally purchased the Australian Membership, so I won't be of any help with the Monthly Membership Options. 

Hopefully Princess and King can clarify exactly when horses and stables are given out to folks that purchased one of the Monthly VIP Plans.


As far as the room, snowglobe and crystal snowman - yes, those were only again given to the Main Account Holder, and not awarded to each family member.  The only difference here is that with one of the Founder Plans (Original Beta or Australian) - each family member got some virtual items too  (examples:  silver spinner, didgeridoo, pins, Akubra hat).

It took a couple of days to get my horse when I signed up for the monthly $10 membership, I don't know if that is normal or not.

I signed up on monday and got the snowglobe, snowman, etc. right then, but no horse or horse related rooms.  I didn't have them yesterday either.  But today the stable and paddock rooms appeared in my room list, with the brumby horse waiting in the stable.  There wasn't a popup or anything, it just appeared.

If you are main account member and have clothing, horses, etc...

What happens when you might not be a member(family or main account) any longer? Are you able to still wear the clothes? Are you still able to ride the horse?

OK I will try to answer a few things here. Princess is still not feeling well - hopefully she will be back around soon.

-Astro is correct, only the main account holder can buy member items and only they get the snow globe, horse, etc. Family members can be traded any member clothing and can wear or trade with main account holders or anyone who is a family member.

-Tiki, the same thing happened with the monthly account for us. On one account the horse stable and horse showed up pretty quickly but on the other it took until the next day. There won't be a pop up about the horse, just look in your room list for the stable and paddock rooms and your horse will be waiting for you in the stable.

-Fun, it has been our understanding that once memberships expire, you will still keep any member items you received and will still be able to wear member clothing you already have. I am guessing that includes your horse. What will stop is daily credits, IM, and access to member specials and monthly member items. I don't know if that will change later, but for now that is how we understand it to work.

Hope this answers any questions. Also, if anyone has any questions I would use the HELP button in game rather than contact us. This is not like VMK and they encourage you to use the HELP button in this way. We have found they respond very quickly

The horses are not items, so they cannot be traded.  Only the character that "owns" the horse can ride it.

I did get a response fairly quickly when I had to use this email to get my password changed.  So, someone is reading these emails and responding.

Although using the Help Button in game seems like an okay option, not sure it would work well for this issue.  Chances are they will just tell you to email instead.  If you do use the Help button in game, I would follow up with an email too.

I do have a question though regarding the membership.  I was under the impression that I would not be billed until VFK entered "Gold" stage.... whatever that is....    But I've already received three $9.95 charges on my credit card.  Is anyone else being billed?  I can't decide if I should cancel or not...  I kind of got addicted to those shopping credits

This is interesting. When I read this, I looked and King said we have also been charged for January, February, and March. We did not know that was going to happen either. Like you, Pink, we have gotten spoiled with credits and cool member items. The kids have Florida grandparents who wanted to pay for their memberships so they could see them in game, so that is good. OK, back to hurry up and wait for the ride event!

King and I were just thinking you might want to try sending them this question through the "Help" button in game. That seems to be the best way to communicate with them without calling. If you don't get a clear answer, we can call and ask them.

Ugh.  Talked to Gale today about this same topic since we bought 2 One Month memberships last month.  We had a friend that we talked to last night that said they had bought a couple of those and were being charged every month for them.

Even though the last couple pages of the signup for that membership state "One Month", it's a monthly membership that will continue until cancelled by the member.  Every month will be another $9.95 charge per account.  To cancel, Gale said to send an email to support@virtualfamilykingdom.com (with your membership number if possible...).  There is no mention on their site that it is a continuous membership...that will continue to be charged to your CC account each month until it is cancelled by the purchaser.  It does say 'Monthly' on the "Memberships" tab of the homepage.  Whatever.  We're probably gonna keep our 2 new accounts...until we change our minds.  lol.

It's disturbing that they don't make the purchaser aware that they are agreeing to have their CC card charged $9.95 a month until cancelled by purchaser...or even how to cancel it.

I asked Gale what we'd lose if we cancelled our accounts (daily credits? family accounts?  members only stuff? etc.)...and she wasn't really sure at all.  They're still working out the details and haven't informed her of them yet...   

Methinks they're gonna be getting alot of upset people calling soon wanting to know why their CCs have been charged multiple times for a one month membership...

We're still torn with the 2 monthly memberships we purchased.  We do get an extra 1,000 credits, 10 more family accounts and an extra members-only item (i.e., parrot, chalkboard) each month by having the 2 memberships....but the 6-month and Yearly memberships are much cheaper.  You also get an extra "welcome kit" with each of those as well.  Sigh.  I hope this gets worked out soon...

We're still torn with the 2 monthly memberships we purchased.  We do get an extra 1,000 credits, 10 more family accounts and an extra members-only item (i.e., parrot, chalkboard) each month by having the 2 memberships....but the 6-month and Yearly memberships are much cheaper.  You also get an extra "welcome kit" with each of those as well.  Sigh.  I hope this gets worked out soon...

When I talked to Gale a few weeks ago and asked about when the Beta and Aussie memberships expire, she said they were working on a way to notify ppl who purchased them that their membership was getting ready to expire, and give them options to choose from as far as renewing them.  She wasn't sure if the notification would be by email or not. 

They're still working on all the membership details...which is upsetting.  She has no idea WHEN the memberships will start (if they haven't already)...but I think that the idea that they wouldn't start until Gold was only a rumor.  Hold onto your wallets...it might be a bumpy ride...

Will do, AstroGigiblue.  I'm assuming they have SOME of the details worked out, but not all.  It's also apparent that these kinds of details are worked out elsewhere, and when they are complete, THEN Gale is informed of it.  Not sure who works on this type of thing.  Developers?...or a separate Billing Department??  No idea.

We have the Beta and Aussie memberships along with these 2 new One Month memberships.  All are appended to the Beta...which raises more questions.  When you append memberships, it makes your total TIME of your membership extend.  So if you append an Aussie membership to a Beta Founders membership, you receive a total of 7 months of TIME for your membership (the Beta runs for 4 months, then the Aussie kicks in for an additional 3 months).  If you were to NOT append the Aussie to the Beta, the Aussie would end after 3 months, and the Beta would end 1 month later...so the total TIME for that setup would be 4 months (because they are running alongside each other).

This does lead to more questions, though, when you append the monthly membership to the end of your existing membership.  I'm assuming it would work the same as if you appended the Aussie to the Beta...but am not sure.

Also (for those that don't know), you get 20 family accounts under each of the Beta and Aussie memberships.  The regular VIP memberships will net you 10 family accounts a piece.  So since I have a Beta/Aussie appended membership, I have a total of 40 family accounts (20 + 20).  Since I added the 2 additional One Month memberships to my existing Beta/Aussie combo, I now have a total of 60 family accounts (20 + 20 + 10 + 10).  HOWEVER:  what many people aren't aware of is that you have to physically CALL them to have the additional memberships added by hand!!  I had to do this when I appended the Aussie membership to the end of my Beta, and I had to do it again when I added the 2 One Month memberships to my Beta/Aussie combo.  For some reason, you don't just automatically receive the extra family accounts when you purchase a new membership.  NOTE:  this only applies to people who are APPENDING new memberships to their existing memberships.  People that just buy a new membership and don't append it to their existing membership aren't affected by this.  Are we all confused now?  Good.

Thanks again Flamanar.  I read through your post, and it does make sense.  I was going to call VFK myself about my membership, but since I really had no reason to call...just yet -- I haven't.

I'm curious to see what VFK comes up with as far as how they will notify players when their membership expires.  That is going to open up more questions I'm sure.

I can think of one right off the top of my head (maybe someone already knows the answer) -- that being, I wonder if renewals on Founder (Aussie & Beta) packages are going to be treated as getting another VIP pin, etc.?  Because, technically -- it is a NEW VIP membership (we only received so many "free" VIP Membership months, with the Beta and Aussie package).  We never actually bought a VIP Package, we bought a Founder Package.  Then, do you get more additional family member accounts?  I can just imagine even more questions.

It's interesting that VFK can't even tell us WHEN those packages, will START or END either.  I guess just wait and see, and watch credit card statements!

No worries about being perceived as a "basher" here Flame. This is the place for no BS after all.  We are all just discussing an issue VFK is having that has caused confusion and may cause a larger headache for them in the future.

King and I are also very supportive of the staff and game, but get frustrated by the communication gaps that seem to happen. There are some interesting things people are bringing up here that I have not thought of, like back to back renewals, new VIP pins for renewal of Founders memberships, member items, etc. It will be interesting to see how it will all play out. Sounds like they are not even sure yet.

Well, we're holding onto our 2 'one month' memberships until our beta/aussie combo expires.  Having the 2 memberships (instead of a single membership) gives us the 10 extra family accounts, an extra members exclusive monthly award, and and extra 1K credits every day.

Of course, it's still unknown if we'd lose ANY of that by going to a single cheaper Yearly membership.  I'd assume that if you bought a One Year membership, you'd get another 30k credits (I think that's a pretty good guess, though).

So there you have it.  A bunch of 'maybe's, 'possibly's, 'could be's, etc.  I think right now, no matter what we do, it would be a roll of the dice.  We might make out like bandits...and we might lose.  So I'm staying put for now...in my comfort zone.
