Ok, for once I read the newsletter! 

Give-A-Gift starts on this Friday, Dec 15. The end date says Sunday, Dec 21...however the 21st is a Thursday.  The mystery gift will be given on Dec 26. Each gift costs 500 credits. You must use the "Contact Us" link, one per gift.

I also have a couple questions as I missed this event last year while I was in London...

Can you use mules to give gifts? i.e. Does the person have to be on your friends list? I have so many I want to give gifts to, but I would really like to use my mules accounts if I can...I think I will need to in order to gift everyone I want to gift.

Also, do you have to have the credits in your account at the time you make the request or at the time the gift is gifted (the 26th). Just wondering if I will have a little more time to get more credits. 

I need to get started on this ASAP, as I leave on a trip on Sunday, so I only have Friday and Saturday to get my VMK "shopping" done. Any and all info would be appreciated!

Here are a few of your answers

You can use mules to do the gifting, some recommend this method for accounting purposes - and the gifting is anonymous so they won't know one way or the other until you tell your friend.  - I am sure some tell people they sent one and never do.  They don't have to be on your friends list to gift them, but you don't have a choice of gifting a lump of coal either. So it should not be an issue using unknown mules.  But no luck if there is someone you wanted to give coal to you will have to settle for buying a Goofy hat and trading it to them on your own.  The exception I believe is Staff - I don't think they deliver to staff, a few people tried last year I think and it did not deduct the credit.

Also, do you have to have the credits in your account at the time you make the request or at the time the gift is gifted (the 26th). Just wondering if I will have a little more time to get more credits. 

Credit is a bit tricky, you don't have to have the credit when you make the request but you are supposed to have it when it is gifted.  Last year some people ended up in the negative credit zone.  Seems to be some debate if this was an error or bad accounting.  Those gifts did get delivered even though like this year it said they would not. Some that ended in the negative claimed they had it calculated to the credit and was VMK's error.

It all went well with me and thought it was a good program.  The mystery gift item is not known is the one issue.  Knowing VMK it will again be the Green Wreath but there is no way to tell till the 26th.  Also not a bad idea to send yourself or a mule a gift or two if you think this is an item you might like or want to trade or sell on e-bay or whatever it is you all like to do.

One thing that bummed me out though...was that I only had the "birthdate" for one of my mules...sooooooo I had to use my main character for almost all of my gifting!  So much for using my mules' credits! 

Too bad I didn't know way back that those birthdates were important!

Aww Kit, I wish you had asked that question here first.  There is a way to find out the birthdates you used for any of your characters!

I used it and made a list of mine, so I don't have to go back and look anymore.  But for down the road, why don't you use this link and make a list for your characters: https://secure.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/myVacation/myProfile/login?bhcp=1

The screen the link presents you with, just act like it is the VMK logon page and supply your userid and password.  The next screen, on the right is a clickable option to view your profile.  This will take you to all the info you keyed in on that character including the birthdate!

Because they don't give us notification that it was sent or notification it was recieved I guess nobody knows for sure.  But I asked Fin if we sent them to staff would they be delivered and she replied all gifts would be delivered.  I would intrpret that to mean if you give multiples they will go out to your recipient.

There Is one thing you want to watch for in screen printing your friends list.  This is particularly the case with your friends that are always in vmk.  I found one close friend missed the entire process of screen printing because she was not on when I started but was on by the time I got to the m's.  Remember everyone goes to the top of the list when they are online so watch out for those past half way that might have snuck in while you were not paying attention.  Fortunately I did miss the person when reviewing the list.  Just be sure to check your list twice for close friends you would not want to miss.

1x magic pins, don't get me started   I would really be happy to not have the coral magic as a key prize anymore.  I know mine expire before I use them all.  For unorganized people like me, we need some type of an alert that says "Hey smarty pants.  You have 2 coral magics expiring today.  Use them".

Why cant they rotate it, one time use coral, one time use treasure. That way we could atleast get something for our troubles.

Thanks for the info duck.he! I wish I had had time to get this info first, believe me! But I was pressed for time. It's definitely good to know for future reference. At least I was able to do my gifting; that is the important thing.

But don't mind hrhkit when you see her standing on Main Street wearing a tarnished tiara and ugly, mismatched clothes with tincup in hand begging for spare credits (jk)  ...'cause it was worth it to me to gift my friends.

rofl. You think you are bad let me tell you this story I usually play pirates under a mule. Anyway I like to wear the key pins and go at the end of the night or next morning to cash in. I dc in a game and decided to go catch ghosts under my main. Anyway I totally forgot I have played the mule for few days and let 12 keys expire on me. Now that is sad!!

Thanks Daz, for pointing out we could already tell via the home page!    I logged in and found that in my case, all my gifts should be delivered, as the credits shown are exactly what I expected after the gifting!  Yay!

You don't seem happy about the pinkness of this item.   It just shows never set your hope to high in this game when depending on Yavn and his crack staff.   I think the item is ok, I think more different colors of items is good pink would not be my first choice but I am sure many I gifted are happy with it.  Would have expected some new extrodinary unseen item by its billing, but VMK always overbills there coming attractions...and they were doing so well with the Gingerbread theme....reallly expected gingerbread.

Well Duck you know how I feel about the color pink.  I abhor it.  I loathe it.  I detest it, am repulsed by it, and quite frankly, to the person who decided upon pink for the color I say, "A pox upon your first born.. you ugly wart on a salamander's tongue!  May you forever sprout  from your arse."

But to my sweet friends who gifted me I say thank you for being so thoughtful and for thinking enough of me to spend so many credits.  It is for this reason that I will keep and cherish every single one of my fantastically fugly pink candy canes.

Oh how i wish it was a new item, not another color of a previous item that we already have in 4 colors.  Oh well, the entire "give something that you dont know what it is to people that won't know you sent it and we will take 500 credits" concept hits me as odd in too many ways to even begin to discuss.  So, I'll just say...

I know I spelled everything right.  I spent my very last credit to gift some friends (sad but true - I wish I was better at fireworks), and still have some credits left - not enough to do much with but enough to know not all of my gifts went through.  However, I must say, I signed on to discover more gifts in my inventory than I ever even dreamed I would receive. 

If you sent me one - thank you for warming my heart and making me smile.  Happy Holidays everyone!

First, thanks to all those that gifted me.  Agian, it is true this is not the item we all would have chose ourself but then 500 credit doesn't buy much anymore in vmk.  The only other option we had was buy individual gifts for our friends, which I know some did.  If you chose this option you could do it many ways - buy the gift-a-gift in bulk and distribute, but you still don't know the item. You could buy whatever item in bulk or individually select items.  I am sure some did this.  I personally could not have sent nearly as many this way timewise it was just not possible and the buying could not be done after hours. If you have ever traded with me you know it is almost a painfull experience for me and usually ends in having to crash out due to being locked in the trade.  I am working on some inventory solutions but I just don't have time and when I do I prefer to be playing not sorting.  I think the event and the item were fairly similar in nature to last year so really not to surprised by the item the screw ups or anything about it, I would say I am satisfied it was a good option for me.  I might try to work it out different next year, or maybe they will actually fix the issues - yeah right...again i just really have to apprieciate everyone that thought of me, I think it is great, and admit it you would not want to be without one of these candy canes -even though they are pink.

On a side note as I check my other accounts that sent some to each other to be collected at a later time - but before Yavn kills them and I am finding that many of thiers never arrived - i will have to look at the credits too now on these so i did have more then 3 problems maybe 10 still only about 10% eror and I can't be sure it was all their fault and received plenty from friends

Seriously, I'm right there with you in my dislike for pink.  One of the hosts told us that it would be something we'd never seen before.  Although that is technically true (I've never seen a pink candy cane, unless it was a very old, stale candy cane that wound up in the ornament box by accident and found two years later), it's just a variation of an overdone theme.  Arg!

As to your curses, my favorite all-time Yiddish curse is: Er zol vaksen vi a tsibeleh, mit dem kop in drerd!
 (translation:  May you grow like an onion, with your head in the ground and your feet in the air.  Not entirely clear on what that means, but it's quite the picture!)

For anyone that may have credits left that should have been taken by the "give a gift" fairy:

Yesterday, in Hula's party room she shared that some gift requests have yet to be handled.  If you remember, the cut off date that was published was a date that did not exist: Sunday, December 23rd.

Well, it seems that VMK meant Friday, BUT - any gifts that were ordered Saturday and Sunday will still be delivered.  However, they have not been processed yet.  They are working on obtaining that list.  So, if you ordered any gifts on Sat. or Sun., those credits have yet to be taken and the gifts, not yet delivered - but they will be.

Whoaaa......... Lets just back up this pole dance train a second..    Obviously I need to pay better attention on this here board!  Its true that an AM room was cleared one day, nobody was banned though.  True, there was talk of table and possibly pole dancing, but I firmly believe that the room was cleared because of the title "Booters Cafe"  I think it was a little too close to the r/l establishment.  I think we all got the "room closed for redecorating" message.  Pretty funny.
