The Winners Announced!
June 8, 2010 5:05 PM

Greetings citizens. I am delighted to announce the winners of the Lights! Camera! Action! competition. Honesty, Dan and I spent the weekend watching all your wonderful entries. In fact we watched them all five times over. The process of choosing a winner was long and arduous, and even involved some quite heated exchanges sometimes!

I know that I speak for the three of us when I say that we were extremely impressed with the talent expressed by the SmallWorlds community. As this was the first film competition we've run, we were awfully curious to see what would emerge in the entries, and we were far from disappointed.

The Golden Dan Award

As you may remember, one of the exciting things about this competition was the prize offered to the three category winners: The Golden Dan Award!

We will be offering this as a prize in other future competitions at our discretion. This time we are awarding three Golden Dan statues to the three talented winners in the Music Video, Original Film and Movie Take-off categories. The following prizes will be awarded

    * Category Winner: 10,000 Gold + a Golden Dan Statue

    * Category Runner Up: 6,000 Gold

Without further ado, I'd like to share the 6 fantastic winning entries with you. On behalf of Honesty, Dan and myself, I'd like to offer our sincere congratulations to all winners and runners up. We've thoroughly enjoyed this competition, and I trust it's been fun for all who entered. Due to space restrictions, I've decided to interview the winners in a separate story, and we'll feature that in 'Scene in SmallWorlds' in the very near future.

Original Movie Winner: Jake Coole-r - Ultimatum

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HA64eR2eiwc&feature=player_embedded

Join Detective Jake and his rookie partner Deblin as they battle the evil mastermind Viper. You'll see exciting martial arts fighting action and Deblin dancing like a crazy man, not to mention the frightening scene where the Combobulator Laboratory is blown sky high! (luckily this is just fiction!)

Original Movie Runner Up: Mr Sebastian - Pandora's Ring

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-WlnneBMgY&feature=player_embedded

Prometheus Reynolds is a renowned adventurer who uncovers the ring of Chronos, a gift from an Egyptian god to a princess. With the help of his secretary, Ellen, he must find truth within himself to remove the curse, and the powers of the ring. There's even Pandora's Ring: Part 2! if you want to see what happens next!

Movie Take-off Winner: The Sven - Smallwars
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Avi89uQi20&feature=player_embedded

A fantastic watch for any Star Wars fan, this fantastic creation from The Sven features loads of truly immortal lines from the original movie. Come fly on the Milennium Falcon with Han and Chewy, see Luke rescue Princess Leia and then blow up the Death Star - but best of all is the impressive light saber fight between Vader and Obi-Wan using glo sticks!

Movie Take-off Runner Up: Jetaime Charm - An Affair of the Heart
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqExDkk905E&feature=player_embedded

This charming piece by Jetaime Charm cleverly mixes together "present" scenes in color with "past reflections" in black and white. It's definitely one for the romantics out there; make sure you've got a box is tissues with you when you watch it!

Music Video Winner: Dj T-bird - Billie Jean
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F62S0SSx8Cc&feature=player_embedded

This musical masterwork is a fitting tribute to Michael Jackson - SmallWorlds style! Dj T-bird has done a truly amazing job of capturing the energy and dance skills of MJ himself; we actually found ourselves looking twice on occasion! Great movie editing, dancing pets, one fantastic song - and the moonwalk of course!

Music Video Runner Up: Vanilla Starr - Shake your Tambourine
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZ_cdZATtpg&feature=player_embedded

Vanilla Starr chose one very energetic song and matched it with some snappy film effects, some enthusiastic friends and came out the other side with a really great entry. Just like we did, you'll want to Shake, Shake, Shake it too while you're watching this; even I got into the swing of things!
Congratulations to all Winners

Well, that was one exciting competition, and I trust you've all enjoyed watching the winning entries. Who  knows, perhaps they may even inspire you to create your own movie if you've yet to try it out. Get a few friends together and you can have a ton of fun putting something together!

We had so much fun that we've already decided that we'd like to run another movie competition in the future - so if you've got a hankering for your very own Golden Dan statue, you'll have another opportunity coming up.

Remember, I'll be interviewing the winners and I shall bring you that report from within 'Scene in SmallWorlds' next week.
