Best Space-Themed Space Competition

February 22, 2010 1:50 PM

Hey citizens, it's Johnny Wilde here to tell you about an awesome new competition we've decided to run! Today we released the new space items (and good ol' Kent came out as a Trekkie!). They are all available for you in Dan's Imports. So many cool items to give your SmallWorlds space a futuristic edge!

Kent sure had a great time playing around with the new Space items for the item release story... heh heh... that Kent can be a pretty funny guy sometimes! I admit it, I'm a bit of a space freak too. Here's a picture of all the new items again, just to refresh your memories!

And remember, there are some awesome space themes you can choose from the themes menu which complement the items really well!

Best Space-Themed Space Competition

This competition gives you the opportunity to have a great play around with all the new space items we released today. We'll keep the competition open for two weeks, it will close at midnight on 8th March SWT. Please submit your entry to this forum thread.

You are welcome to submit one screen shot only, but if you want to give us a look around your space you can submit up to three different views of your space so it gives us a good look around it. We'd really like to ask that you keep to this limit: no more than three screenshots within your one forum post entry, thanks.

Best Space-Themed Mission competition - coming soon!

We also intend to run a best space-themed mission competition very soon, so you might want to keep that in mind while you're putting together your space for this competition!

The Prizes

Kent and I will choose seven (7) semi-finalists to go forward to a public vote.

The seven semi-finalists will receive 2000 Gold each, and the overall winner (to be decided by a public vote) will receive an additional 5000 Gold.

Competition Rules

- Entries must be submitted to this forum thread only.
- Up to three screenshots of your space are to be included in the official competition forum thread, along with a link to your space in-world. Judging will be based solely on the screenshot(s) you include in the forum thread. All finalists spaces will also be checked in-world.
- Only one entry per person / SmallWorlds account.
- The competition closes at 11.59pm SWT Monday 8th March. Only entries that are submitted to the official competition forum thread will be eligible for judging. Your entry must include at least one and no more than three screenshots of your space. It must also include a link to your space in-world.
- The competition will be judged by Kent Kronkite and Johnny Wilde, who will choose the top fifteen entries from the screenshots which are submitted in the official competition forum thread. These 7 semi-finalists will then be put forward for a citizen's vote to determine the overall winner. The overall winner will be the single entry which achieves the most number of votes.
- The 7 semi-finalists chosen by the competition judges will each be awarded 2000 Gold. The overall winner (decided by a public vote) will be awarded a further 5000 Gold.
Good luck to you all... and live long and prosper!
~ Johnny Wilde

How to take photos of your Space and copy it to the forum thread.

1 - Once you have completed decorating your space, take a screen shot of it. You can use any screen capture software you have, or simply press the Print Screen button on your keyboard (this saves the screen into memory, so you won't see anything happening when you press it).
2 - Save your image as a .JPG file into a directory on your PC.
3 - Upload the image to a photo sharing site such as Flickr, Photobucket,TinyPic, or ImageHosting. Copy the URL of the photo.
4 - Go to the competition entry forum thread. Post a reply. Click on the 'Add Image' icon. Paste in the URL of the image from your photo sharing account.
5 - Don't forget to also add a link to the space where your space can be viewed in-world.

Good luck!
