SmallWorlds Appoints Ted Tagami Vice President of Business Development
October 1st, 2008 - Mitch Olson

SmallWorlds, the web-based virtual world for teens and adults, announced today the appointment of Ted Tagami as Vice President of Business Development. Most recently, Tagami was Vice President of Business Development for the virtual worlds agency Millions of Us where, as one of its first employees, he worked with businesses to understand and harness the power of virtual worlds and online communities. In his new appointment, Tagami will be responsible for business development, platform strategy, and account management for SmallWorlds, and will be based in San Francisco.  “The establishment of a West coast office in the US was the next logical step for SmallWorlds.  Ted’s appointment represents our commitment towards building partnerships with media companies, communities and brands to create compelling and engaging experiences” said Mitch Olson, Co-founder of SmallWorlds.

Tagami brings over two decades of entrepreneurial experience, having run several companies including the early web-based real estate services company re.com and social agency Universus Networks. His client work includes global brands such as Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, Coldwell Banker, Google, Intel, National Geographic, Prudential, Toyota, and Warner Bros Television.

Headquartered in Auckland, New Zealand, SmallWorlds has developed the next generation of social entertainment for teens and adults with an accessible web-based virtual world that combines a unique combination of social game play, web2.0-inspired content, and entertainment.  SmallWorlds has been in public beta since June of this year and is scheduled for general release later this month.

Darren Green, Co-founder of SmallWorlds said “Ted brings with him a wealth of experience that is rare in the virtual worlds marketplace. In his previous position at Millions Of Us, where he worked to bring global brands to virtual worlds, Ted gained a valuable perspective on the challenges and tremendous opportunities in this rapidly growing industry. We are extremely pleased that Ted has chosen to back SmallWorlds as the next major virtual worlds platform for teens and adults.”
