VFK Veterans Day Quest! - November 11th, 2008
« on: November 11, 2008, 07:09 AM »

In honor of Veterans Day today they have a new pin out.

VFK Veterans Day Quest!
7:00 AM Pacific Time Tuesday, November 11th, 2008 to 10:00 PM Pacific Time Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Veterans Day, or Remembrance Day in other parts of the world is an annual holiday to honor military veterans.

In the United States, Veterans Day is recognized as a holiday on both the federal level and the state level and is observed on November 11th. On your quest today, we will explore the history of this special day.

We want to say a special thank you to all the military personnel, past and present and their families who have served our country with such dedication to protect our homes and our freedom!

Your reward for completing this quest will be 1,000 credits, and the Veterans Day Remembrance Pin!

In Canada it is called remembrance day. The symbol is the poppy and was made well known by the Poem in Flanders Fields. Written by Canadian Dr. McCrae. In the first world War. Who died shortly after after he penned this poem.

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Thanks for the poem Littlebelle.  I have never read it before and I am glad you shared it with us today.  Its a wonderfully done poem that sounds so sad.  :(

Hugs for busy Coral.  I have found recently that they keep the quest up after hours, I believe until opening time the next day. Maybe with the spoilers here you could take about five minutes to get it done? If not, send me a message and I will get you a pin.  :thumb:

I didn't know they kept it up after hours. I was lucky today and my rehersal for my play ended fairly early so I can hop on for a few.  :yes!:
