Wow - I did not realize the interest in my fireworks quest! I certainly would have shared sooner.
Getting bronze became, one could say, an obssession. I literally could not do anything else. I missed it by 10 points 1 game, developed charts to know if I was even close to being on track, quit games if I saw 5 or more of the likes of ahockeyguy, amberdaze, sillykid, etc... in my games (knowing if I could not stay in top 5, I would not get bronze).
Then, one Saturday afternoon, I did nothing but play fireworks all day. I had 8 wins on my way to gold. While the husband was peacefully watching football and the dog was curled up on the couch beside me, I screamed so loud that I scared "my boys" half to death!
Yep, by a mere 22 points.
As fun as it would have been to get gold first, I could not bring myself to stop playing. I thought about it for an instant, but could not do it. I had to see if I could get the now agonizing 3900.
I did come in first, however, giving me my 9th win.
Then, a few days later (yes, I took a fireworks break for a bit)...
With a score not even CLOSE to enough for the bronze pin -
Many of you gave me tips, hints, and rooted me along the way. And I was thrilled that so many of you were on that afternoon and helped celebrate my joy!
It slowly turned into a party - what a surprise!
Thanks everyone for your support and for sharing in my joy! (And I LOVE that only 1 of you thought I'd get bronze first!) Oh, and if anyone is wondering - I have worked just as hard at my fireworks score every game I have played since. I have yet to hit 3900 again - so dont even ASK about silver. I got my bronze and gold (which IS pruple after all) - and that's probably going to be it for me. And that's just fine.
