Thanks everyone for the congratulations.  We're all both shocked and humbled  :)

We all worked very hard at these races.  Last night, we were up to 5 a.m. racing till we couldn't keep our eyes open anymore.  I think I also won the "1st place for biggest headache" award.  lol.  It was a long and strenuous week...and we're just glad it's over so that we actually have time for ourselves and our friends :)  Looking forward to a nice bit of vacation after this.  ;)

FYI:  they also updated the homepage with finalized race results for the entire week.  Finally.  It was nerve racking not knowing where we stood...or if we were competitive at all!  Again...just glad it's over.  We were prepared to fail, and had already talked to Hero (young Flame) about the possibility of failure (more like probability).  We were prepared to fail with grace.  In this case, we were blessed and didn't have to.  For that, we are thankful :)

(hugs) all around

Here are a few fun pics we took tonight with the first place winners.  It's me, Infiinity, Hero and .It.  First pic is of us with the outfits on and cups behind us:

Next pic is with the bottles of milk we got on our heads:

Well, we expected our newly-acquired exposure to produce some jealousy and accusations.  Unfortunately, we weren't disappointed.

We've seen enough horrible behavior from VFK players lately...and now this.

We've been accused of using clones and of cheating to win.  By more than one person.

For the record...and to make sure everyone is absolutely clear on this subject...the Flames did NOT cheat in the races...nor during any of our time on game.  Ever.  I wouldn't know how to cheat if I wanted to.  The fact that our times were so close really should come as no surprise to anyone.  All a person has to do is look at each day of the race week and peruse the 'top 30' lists for each day.  They are all finalized and updated now.  Intelligent people will see that there were a couple days where those times...from winner #1 to #29 or #30...were within fractions of a second of each other.  So for anyone to question the closeness of our times doesn't know their a...well, they know nothing at all.  For example:

Thursday place winners and times:
#1- 00:37.286
#29-00:37.99

Opening Practice Day (first Saturday) place winners and times:
#1- 00:27.063
#30-00.27.969

WOAH!  Look at that.  Saturday, 30 people scored the same 27 seconds...only separated by fractions of it!

So...I guess all those people in between on those days all lived in my house and cheated with me?  Seriously...

I am only posting this to dispel lies and rumors that are being started.  To people that are doing that, I say:  you need serious help...and I fart in your general direction.  :gas7:

We ran no clones to win the races.  It was Flame, Hero and .It.  I used to program computers way back before DOS.  I've played countless keyboard-controlled games (not even joysticks allowed).  Hero was raised on them when he got old enough.  We enjoyed racing against each other, and would share strategies to shave times between each other.  We have 4 paying memberships.  If we wanted we could have also ran Mermaid (our daughter) for the races and most probably would have swept #1 on Sunday altogether.  We did not do that because she rarely plays, and we wanted to give others a chance.  If we wanted to be really awful, we would have run clones like someone did from Wednesday through Friday.  On Wednesday, I count 11 (probably more) clones of 1 person on the 'top 30'.  Thursday I count 5 by that person.  Friday, 9.  I'm rounding down, btw.  That, to me, is ethically wrong...although not against the rules.  We could have loaded every days 'top 30' list with our clones.  However, the only reason to do that would be to keep others off the list.  We did NOT do that...and are saddened that the person decided to use their clones to do such a thing to other players.

REAL people that know the Flames know our reputation.  I would hope...by now...it would speak for itself.  I would like to ask the cooperation of NOBS members in letting us know if someone accuses us of ill-gotten gain.  Specifically of spreading untruths about us.  Thanks everyone for your help.

Flame.  Just setting the record straight...and eliminating the BS.

Flame and family,
I can assure you that nobody here would even consider that you all cheated. Not sure how cheating could even be possible at racing anyway. I believe I am aware of a few of the people you might be talking about and I am very sorry you have to deal with people trying to steal the joy of your victory. You all raced and practiced every day and you all deserved your first place prizes. I know what you mean about being good at video games, especially if they were/are a big part of your recreation and relaxation. Our kids could have most likely been right up there with all of you had they spent any time racing this week. They are both so natural at these types of games. I am actually surprised there were not more players tied for the different positions on the Final race day. It seems totally normal to me that people can come in so close in times. Hugs to you all, wear your new "Flaming" suits with pride.
I will tell you that I have had my fair share of unkind comments in game as well. A few people commenting that I should not have been allowed to enter another building contest and someone even saying that I am selfish and greedy to build great rooms knowing I was going to be taking prizes from children. I had the same thing happen last year, and I have learned to just ignore it. I know that I build rooms because I love to build. If I could trade my prizes, you can bet my kids would be wearing a necklace around here and there.  :lolg: Your true friends will stand by you and support you and be genuinely happy for you. Those are the things in life that are really important.  :bighug:
The sad thing is, these people are adults. My 9 year old could teach them a thing or two about being joyful for others. She had a phase a few years ago where she was jealous of things her big brother could do, etc. We would always explain how that kind of jealousy and bitterness not only steals the other person's joy, but steals any joy you had in the experience. There were many rooms from friends here that I thought should have placed in the Garden Competition. Yet, everyone has been joyful in the success of friends. My friends experiencing success makes me happy, it often brings me more joy than my own good fortune. Hugs to all of you.  :bighug:

Congrats Again!!! :bighug:

Ah, yes, the "stealing prizes away from children"....

We know who is saying that....

SIGH.

I am sorry that you too are having to deal with petty jealousy Wendy!  Your rooms are spectacular, and those that are not petty with jealousy KNOW that and have rewarded you with Judging!  And here is a most amusing thought: since your name was NOT on your room at all, I bet that if those who are being so petty with this truly judged fairly, they probably contributed to you high scores, rofl.  Just keep reminding yourself of that fact.

Thanks Wendy and Lisu for the votes of confidence; we know that ppl here on NoBS would never be so jealous as to think this kind of stuff.  It's just sad that there are those who are such poor losers.

HUGS to all of our NoBS family.

Thanks for your kind words, Wendy.  The sad thing is that I've tried to be as humble as possible through this whole thing.  The night of our win, .It wanted to wear our new outfits on the street for closing...but I though it would feel like we were rubbing it in others noses.  So I didn't wear my outfit.  I guess no matter what  someone does in a situation like this, there will always be envy and jealousy.  It's sad.  It's sick to see the people who are throwing the 'greedy' and 'selfish' and 'hoarding' comments around...when THEY are the very examples of which they speak!  It's even worse that it's adults who are SUPPOSED to be setting examples for the kids they keep talking about helping and caring so much for.  VFK needs to start handing out mirrors to those people so they can get a good look at themselves...instead of focusing all their attention on others.  I am not a jealous person...so maybe I just don't 'get it'.

I did think of you, Wendy.  I remember what you went through with the Ride Competition.  I imagined it would happen again this time.  It's a shame that I was right.  (hugs) to you and your family for having to deal with that crap again.

Like I said, we were prepared to fail with grace.  We talked to our kids about it and they were ready for it.  We were also prepared to win with humbleness...instead of showing off and boasting/bragging.  It's a shame our kids have to see blech like this.  I've had so many people ask me in public if .It and/or Hero are my clones.   :hmm:

I congratulate you again Wendy for your win and your families win.  I'm thankful for your encouraging words, and for the REAL friends we have here on NOBS.  I will try my best to look past the blech and wear my hard-earned prizes with pride.  This is also the perfect time to teach my kids what poor sportsmanship looks like and how to identify a sore loser ;)

(hugs)

ADDING:  thanks to you as well, Lisu.  You and .It managed to post while I was composing this short novel.  ROFL  (HUGS)

I'm sorry that this is happening. I have not been around much as been at other places and doing other things.

To me everyone is a winner who raced. The person who scored above average and the person who took them over half an hour to cross that finish line.

CONGRATULATIONS to the entire Flame Family!   WOOOOOT Woot!!   :2thunbs:     :clap1:    :clapping:

I obviously missed a lot of what was going on with the whole racing thing.  I only went around once on the track for the first few days.  So I can only imagine what you went through to actually WIN!   :heat:    'eh ignore all of the other BS is what I say.   ;)

Great job to all of you!
