Not a clue.  But it looks like it will change VFK as we know it in a substantial way.  I foresee major traffic jams in our future.  LOL.

I also think this should be a members-only convenience...to attract more paying members.  Personal opinion ;)

LOL.  Very true!  However...only allowing members to have the new transportation will severely reduce the amount of 'anticipated congestion' ;)  Imagine if all those fairies were only for members?  MUCH less lag.  Really...I rarely see horses around anymore.  Mine have forgotten who I am by now.  LOL.  It's too much of a pain to switch clothes just to get on the thing (my closet is so bloated with unused clothes that I can't find anything  :hmm: ).  Not sure why some people like to ride them into stores and such.  Makes no sense...unless they want attention, I guess.  I really don't know.

I'm just looking at it from the viewpoint of getting much needed $$$ into VFK...and the scary thought of the massive volume of transportation this will produce (assuming it's cars).  This seems like a good opportunity to entice the free players to buy a membership.  I do know what you mean :)  Not everyone can afford a membership...and most people are fine without the horses and extras that come with the memberships.  I just think that VFK gives too much away free...which gives the free players much less incentive to plunk down a 10-spot a month...or less if they bought a longer membership.  VFK cannot survive without paying members.  The more free players there are, the more it costs VFK to run the game...and the less $$$ are coming in.  They don't rely on any advertising to supplement their bottom line.  Without sufficient funds, VFK goes away.

I've been thinking the same thing, Flame.  In fact, I've wondered if VFK might go the route of the Zynga Games on Facebook.  They let you earn credits all sorts of way.  You can buy a pretty large quantity of items with those credits.  However, there are a variety of very cool items that you need another type of credit.  Those credits cannot be earned easily by playing the games on a regular basis.  Instead, they offer package deals where you can buy, with real $$s, those credits.  I've wondered if VFK will eventually go this route?

That's a definite possibility.  They should look at the competition (Gaia, Small Worlds, Zynga, etc.), see what options those games provide...then see if any of those options might suit VFK well.  No matter what, I feel VFK will have to change their business model.  I can't see them surviving by continuing to do what they've been doing.  I don't see money in it.

Well I think webkinz does it at many different levels.

First you join by buing a webkinz stuff animal as little as 5.00 - 7.00 dollars. You can play a full year like that.
Next they have deluxe members that costs 45.00 a years. You get a freee deluxe members gift a month an extra members games only to play.

You have a choice of a family membership that has up to 5 accounts. They an be any accounts. Or one account that got a cool joining gift that the family accounts did not get.

Also they have a virtual shop that you can buy items from. But they are not tradeable. But some items gives you the ability to play other games.

They are going a bit over boards I thin know. Getting a little greedy. Time will tell.

So VFK could do this.

Still waiting for my princess wishing well that I could may a wish every day and see what I get. The recycle bin was close :)

With Free Realms, Sony has both a membership and an in-game cash shop.  Membership is only $5/month so that makes it more affordable for more people.  I signed up for it the first day the game went live.  Cash shop has a variety of items--clothes, weapons, pets.  I just spent a bit on their Halloween costumes, which were pretty cool!  Housing is coming out next month so I suspect there will be cash shop items related to that too, which I'm sure will provide quite an influx of revenue for Sony!

I agree many of these games give away a lot for free.

The cars look interesting.  Is that a BMW logo?  Sponsorship?

I sense Ma'am will probably be opening up a chain of gas stations and an auto repair shop and collision center soon to get added income.  :laugh2:  Considering she charges 100 credits to ship a single item---not sure what she will charge for these services.   :notme:

Belle: My niece was very much in to Webkinz for a while.  I agree that Webkinz really seems to have a lot of layers to their marketing.  They are very big at the in retail store level too.  In local card shops they have charm bracelets, charms, clothes for the stuffed animals, pet carriers, bookmarks, trading cards....and the list goes on and on...
