Title: Fairy "extras"
Post by: Purpleduck on October 17, 2008, 10:53 PM
I was chatting with Days, when I spotted a fairy with a "pet?" butterfly that followed her.  I questioned her about where she got the butterfly, and she replied playing the Clickables game.

This next pic is what I got from the bottom of the home page.  Under Secret Codes, is a reference to Clickables.  Buyable toys to interact with the game.  (Naturally.. it's Disney! )

I just quoted a couple posts Days made on a different thread, about this same thing, while I was setting this up.

Thanks gf!

Apparently ppl are already getting items from purchasing fairy toys --

"Clickables™ Fairy Charm Bracelet features a customizable charm bracelet and three themed charms for girls to create their own Fairy style. Powered by Clickables technology, each charm unlocks a new, special item in the Disney Fairies Pixie Hollow virtual world (PixieHollow.com). "

Duck.he, this is probably where the butterfly came from...  :hmmmm: Aww, I want a pet butterfly!  :lolg:

This sounds so interesting! "Most virtual worlds-related toys are used to unlock content online, but Clickables work in both directions. Girls can wear the charms or bracelets, and when they meet another girl in the real world that uses Pixie Hollow, they can click their bracelets together and swap virtual goods, share points, and make connections. "

Another way to get a butterfly...

"In the coming months, children will be encouraged to log on to Pixie Hollow with their cellphones, which they can use to create butterfly pets for their avatars — which they can’t do online."

Boo.he Disney! Did you see the prices of those "toys?" Can you imagine how parents are going to feel when they find out Disney wants their children to use their cellphones?  :lolg:

LOL, that's why I said in first post: "Naturally.. it's Disney!  "

I had seen the reference to clickables and ignored it on purpose! The last thing I wanted our daughter to see was that! Sorry Disney - we own "Snow Buddies" because of movie reward points for Inferno - that is gone now!  :rofl1: No way will we do that again.  :uhuh:

I guess if you buy these things to get items in the game, you have to ask yourself if you mind if it all becomes worthless in 3 years when they pull Pixie Hollow off the internet to try something new.

After all, this game is being released in conjuction with the Tinker Bell movie.  They could easily say it was just a "promotion"!

Ah CRAP! Not again!
We got sucked into buying the Barbie Girls mp3 player and accessories.
If my 6 year old sees this I'll never hear the end of it.
