Title: VMK Pal
Post by: FilamentTheBright on November 24, 2007, 07:04 AM
I'm sure this has been discussed beyond its time, but....

Is it worth using it?

Does it keep track of all you characters?

What is the advantage versus just signing in?

If you use it why?

If you don't why not?

Thanks.

I have used Pal since it came out,  (only waited for Decoy to "check it out" from the "geek's" standpoint) and will never be without it!

I know you will pick on me, but my eyesight simply loves the magnifying feature, especially to truly appreciate the detail the VMK imagineers put into some of the items.

I can't live without it's holding all my characters userids/passwords.. SUCH a timesaver!  (Nope, never heard of ANY isssues.. sure there are rumors from the nay-sayers.. suggesting that the owner, Carioca, or hackers are able to access your id/pass.  Simply not true.)

I admit I use the "short cut" for when a quest comes up that has a lot of things you have to type.. (very sweet!)

It takes the best/fastest screen pics you could want, and you can crop them right there too.. (I submit my "new items of any week" and how quickly I get them out to all, as proof of it's speed and ease) plus it stores all your pics right in it's package so you can either leave them there or easily save them to your computer.

I also like that it can display VMK time.. for the likes of you and I over here on the East Coast.. plus he keeps it updated with the VMK calendar, so there is a constant "feed" at the bottom of the window with "how long until the next event starts" "how much longer until the current event is over".. very helpful.

I can never say enough  :yes!: and kudos to Carioca for creating this "assistive tool" for his family's use.. and making it public for all!

There are some additional features.. I personally don't happen to use them.. places to hold your favorite links.. place to hold your "codes" (if you aren't going to key them into VMK right away), direct link to the VMK calendar

(Does that help  my little dim Lite Brite?)  :lolg:

Does it allow you to log-in as more than one person at a time?

Yes, in the sense that you would just request another VMKPal session window to open.

I have also used Pal since it came out, and funny enough I can never ever even entertain the thought of not using it in the future. It is a tool I deem essential to playing VMK, at least for me...............................Fee

That's one of my favorite features, bc you don't have to preplan having two characters like with regular sign on.  Mostly I like not having to remember or type all the screen names and pass especially when playing more remote clones or my kids.

Only problem I encounter, and it could be true of signing two characters the traditional way, is that if I close out one Pal window while still playing the other, I get the typing bug where all letters are extra large and you can't see the last few typed.  makes for very difficult editing when you get the blinking red letters of an unacceptable or mispelled word.  Took me quite a while to figure out that's what caused it.  Once I did, I realized why VMK_Mocha (at the time) didn't have a clue what I was asking about.
