Title: Wizards 101
Post by: littlebelle on July 18, 2008, 10:29 AM
Ok I thought I would not enjoy this game. Looked way to complicated. I had never played a game like this at all. I was a little nervous about the casting spells stuff. Do not like saying magic spells .I even feel uncomfortable around sorcerer Mickey. Yup do not have one pic of him :) Well there is none. Instead when you go into a battle you choose a magic card. There is no made up magic words. is kinda like toontown with awesome graphics. I do not like the figthing so much still confused how to decide which card to pick to attack they evil what ever.

What I do enjoy is the quests to find people. I could do that all day :) I think of my hungry for quest gf Duck when I am on quest. So if anyone was staying away from the game because it looked to complicated or because of the magic(wizards) you make want to have a second look at it.

Aww, thanks for thinking of me gf!!  My son, ILikeCheeze, just got his second email about a week ago.. this is truly right up his alley.. touches of TT, Harry Potter, Yu-Gi-Oh, and wizards.  He has been having a blast with it.. we fight now for computer time  ::) .  He did finally add his title on to the DIS list, as many are his friends as well as mine.. but so far is having so much fun, he doesn't mind he hasn't found those friends yet.

As I never "followed" any of those things he enjoyed that are so present in the game, I chose not to try this game. Yet I do see that indeed, from the list on DIS.. many, many friends I would not have thought would be interested, are in fact playing.

I was thinking about this game, because of the Questing specifically.  Thanks for posting Belle!

Thanks for posting Belle, I too have specificly not looked into the game.  I am kind of on overload with games LOL.  By description it reminds me of an old PC game that had a series of games and the whole game was esentially a quest and finding items and people and doing spells and such. I may be way off but it sounds cool - just not the direction I am going at the moment.  I have to draw a line somewhere or I could be playing a dozen games, as it is my memory is failing me and I can't remember what game I was thinking about on certain things.

:jester2: :rofl1:yes too many games to try. What I like about this game is I can do it for a bit and then go on to something else. Not really a game for social aspect. but I did learn how to talk. I just like running around finding stuff the quest to find the quests is so fun lol.

Would people who know this game be so kind to help my and hubby out with a few questions.

1) we both got a flask that can be used as extra life so we do not need to reload. How do we fill it.

2) Where do you find the smith's they seem to be in every room but have no idea where to look

3) The extra cards not in the starter deck how do we use them. Is it better to use the insulated wand or not seems to give poor magic.

4) how do you tell if you have the best magic clothes on?

5) I chat in game how do I know people are actually seeing what I am saying.

6) I am doing Golem towers is there a way to replenish you magic and mana since I have to go all the way to the top and keep dying.

Thank you for you help :)

I asked ILikeCheeze to help out on any he could ;)

1) we both got a flask that can be used as extra life so we do not need to reload. How do we fill it.
You can play mini-games at the fairegrounds to fill the flask. One game should fill it half, and another should fill it all the way. If you get a high enough score, the flask should be filled all the way.

2) Where do you find the smith's they seem to be in every room but have no idea where to look
I found them in places such as behind buildings, in gardens, and basically in places where you normally wouldn't be looking for things. The one in the commons is in the fairegrounds, behind one of the tents. They are small, so you'll have to look carefully.

3) The extra cards not in the starter deck how do we use them. Is it better to use the insulated wand or not seems to give poor magic.
If you mean the Yellow Cards, they are treasure cards. You have to discard cards from your hand by right-clicking on the card you want to discard, and then a draw button will appear below your hand. If you are talking about other cards, you should see little circles that glow next to the cards. There are three of these circles, and they become yellow for every copy of the card you have in your deck.

4) how do you tell if you have the best magic clothes on?
When you look through the stuff you have, you hover over the one your not wearing, and you should see details about each one compared to the one you already have on.

5) I chat in game how do I know people are actually seeing what I am saying.
They should be seeing it, but maybe they just aren't responding.

6) I am doing Golem towers is there a way to replenish you magic and mana since I have to go all the way to the top and keep dying.
You can always use your flask, if it's full. But if you completed the quest for the fairy queen at the end of unicorn way, she should have given you the pixie cards that heal you by 400. Other than that, you can find the "wisps" of red and blue color floating around the streets that give: red for health, and blue for mana. (But they don't give you those in the tower :( ) If you die, just keep going in until you can beat it. It took me 7 tries to finish it. There are only 4-5 floors total.

Thank you for you help :)

It depends on what you want to do. I would first try to get the pixie cards from the fairy on Unicorn Way, that was one of the reasons why I was able to get through. But if you get the chance, try going to the library, and buying a pixie card. (Only one use though, so use very wisely!) If I could help you, I would, but I think the towers limited to one person per instance. (And with the many errors that keep popping up, it's even harder grr.....)

My advice, just keep at it. But try to get the pixie cards, and also try to level up alot before you go in. I was about a level 8-10 when I finally got finished with it. (I won through the skin of my teeth with dumb luck! ;)  )

And thank you! I hope to help others with the game too now that I'm on here :)

I'm so happy, I'm a level 16 Pyromancer! :)  They call us Journeymen when we're at that level :)

You should be able to get a total of 3 from the fairy on unicorn way at once. You can put all 3 copies that you get from her in at once.

Ok I am doing better level 9 and have title undead stalker. I think I got this too fast because I am so bad crossing the street I ended up fighting more bad guys than I needed. Which is better undead stalker or hero of Unicorn way. I think stalker because it is like on page 11 or 12 rofl.

I am finally getting the fighting. It is like a very thought out strategy game. Can you believe it took me to the end of level 8 to notice the power above the eviel beasties. Now that makes choosing cards so much easier rofl.

Ok next question. I need to find the history of Magic in different places. What am I looking for. Is it in a house. I looked everywhere  and have no idea what thing I am looking for. Can you describle it and what type of area it may be found. I know the smith's are in grassy areas ( Notice I said grassy not gassy  ;).

Oh and what do I need to do to get Colosses Open. Thanks for your help :)

Ok, the books are usually found in the houses of the final bosses for each street. Like in Unicorn Way, the book of life is in with Lady Blackhope. The book of fire is in with the Prince Fire Elf in Firecat Alley. Don't worry so much about the Death one yet, it'll take awhile to get there.

And as for Colossus St., you have to finish all major quests on all 3 major streets (which means fighting all the bosses) to get Ambrose to hand over the note to give to the guard at the gate.  Hope it helps!  :)

I'm Also on my way to get some pics of the farther of places, like the Death School for ppl to see it!
Title: Re: Wizards 101

Welcome To The Death School Tour!

If you've been playing the game, you'll know that there used to be seven schools. Life, Myth, Ice, Fire, Storm, Balance, and Death. Well, you'll also know that the professor of the Death School made his school disappear, never to be seen again.....

Well, I'll show you what it really looks like, because you too can get into it, after you defeat some evil bad guys of course!

But anyway, here's the pics of the school, hope you enjoy!

(http://img174.imageshack.us/img174/3347/entfb9.png) (http://imageshack.us)
The entry to the Death School is hidden from peoples regular sight, but use a little Imagination, and you can find it rather easily.

(http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/5938/intyf5.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
And here we see the main sight of the whole school. The tree and the school itself.

(http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/8688/treeyd6.png) (http://imageshack.us)
The tree, named Mortis, doesn't look to friendly, especially since he keeps snapping his teeth at you whenever you get near!

(http://img355.imageshack.us/img355/7510/insideschooleb0.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
This is the inside of the school, where we see the Assistant, with the teacher no where to be found! Also, you'll notice that the whole school is at an angle.

(http://img174.imageshack.us/img174/7919/insidedeathroomdk4.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
Every single school has a special room dedicated to just their craft, where you face a powerful foe to prove yourself later on in the game. The Death One is actually the more detailed, and it deserves it, it certainly looks better than the others.

(http://img355.imageshack.us/img355/4055/malpicbrokenjt2.png) (http://imageshack.us)
Here we see the picture of the Death Professor has been torn to shreds, which, like all good fantasy games and books, means that he has to be the villian, since he doesn't want you to know what he looks like.

(http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/8097/sunkcitydi6.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
And here is the entrance to the Sunken City, which by far has to be one of the toughest places to go to. You walk in, and 3 bad guys gang up on you at once! Even if you're in a clearly marked safety zone!

Anyway, hope you enjoyed the tour, and if there's any others you would like to see that I can get my hsnds on, just ask!

OK Mr Gnome, I hereby challenge you to a wizard duel, if you think you can walk away from your garden. I have 5 seconds to spare. To think, I'm fightining things less than half my height. Apparently Duck didn't teach me well enough. ;)

Oh, and don't worry, I won't be eating you, the monsters in my deck are all ready getting there forks and knives out. They told me to tell you that you won't even fill their gut, so they'll eat your cards as well as you. ;)

Anyway, for those of you intrested, I was wandering around YouTube like normal, and I came across 4 pieces to the magical world this thread is about. It's the making of Wizard 101. If you look carefully around the people, you'll see some of the creatures and NPC's from the game!

Am I the only one thinking of Toontown while playing that game  ? I tested for four days but even if the game is well done, that quests system kinda bothers me but maybe I am just over games  :hmmmm:

I thought the same thing.  I do like Wizrard 101 better though.

They told me to tell you that you won't even fill their gut, so they'll eat your cards as well as you. ;)

Btw son.. don't expect  to accept your challenge.  He is terrified of you, and has his own cheesy yellow "chicken" stripe down the middle of his back.

I think he is worried you might hurt his yearly skin peel, which he has now begun with his vacation time over his birthday week.

Now, Cheeze, you just hit bottom.  Having your mommy do your dirty work for you.  How sad is that?  :lolg:

Actually, she was the one that stepped in. She didn't believe you would understand my "big Words, " and she had to make it more understandable for you. Let me spell it out for you in words you can understand Gnome, "I CAN BEAT YOU IN 5 SECONDS." Do you even know what 5 seconds is in human time? LOL ;)

Also, she was afraid for your well-being. She's watching out for the both of us, and she doesn't want to have to clean the large amount of Gnome blood that will be splattered everywhere! ;) LOL

:roflmao2: Too funny :) I thought cheeze had a GPS attached to me :) I go on in the morning to just fill my character up on health and manna I have about 30 minutes before work and poof he is there :) Then I get on the game check if Cheeze is on nope. Then poof he appears :)  Cheeze do you ever sleep or do you take after your Mom :)

Cheeze you've been awesome help with all the bad guys :) :yourock: and have been a great help getting me through some tough fights.  :boxing:

Unfortunately for you gf  :duck: the whole game is quest and bad guys. So maybe it is time you jumped into Wizards it is very addicting doing all the quests. Quest after quest after quest after quest. Your then never ending questory :)

Well tonight I promised hubby I would play with him for a bit so you might have a little more computer time, though nothing stops cheeze from helping him to rofl.

Poor guy I have been getting all this awesome help and I hear him swearing :rant2: up a storm  :bm: down stairs  :cpushake: :cpusmash:  so think I need to show him some ropes oh not the ones you use to hang yourself   :gallows:

:pilfight: hugs to you both gl in your quest to recapture the computer :)

And thank you Belle, I've been trying my hardest to help out anyone from nobs or any Pyromancers that need my help, and it's easier said than done, with out a Purple Feathered Friend saying "OK, got to go get onto nobs, got to stop Cheeze and Bright from killing each other." LOL

Well your mom owes me a tree.  :tongue3: here I am helping Cheeze on a quest I will not get to in say 8 levels. I bought gold cards to be the best help I could be :) All I wanted was to be taken to the tree that I can not get to now. Stupid teacher gives me a quest that I have no access to. So We get right to the end and there is this major bug. We both die :(. Then cheeze says got to go duck needs computer. But but I need to see the tree  :sos: So I wander aimlessly  :sos:Finally another player gets me to island and wham I have anotehr place I can not go  :sur:

So I meet up with Cheeze again the next day and he helps me fight some real nasty guys. I kept saying I need to get the map when should I get the map. He saids you can come back and get it. Oh ok I say.  We win the battle he goes to show me where the map is and WHAM!!!! No map. Seems my cheeze needed it too. And thus it would not show up for me.  :bm: I just should have got the map when I wanted then both of us would have the stupid map. The sad thing is I can not go anywhere else because I do not have permission to get off this tiny island and sail a boat :(

So cheeze lets hope tonigh we are bug free. I am not sure if I am bringing the bugs or you are. But I am putting on handy dandy extra superior bug repellent. There will be no bugs on me :)

Serioulsy though it is so much easier and a lot more fun when you play with someone. Celebrating in victory and crying with dismay in defeat (death)

So, quit your whining, cause right now I don't have the games to play, so he has had the computer each day, more than I  have!   geesh!

I must say Cheeze more than made up for it last night after the flag bug :) Well he got me through the instances again and I was able to finally get of the oasis. But I have to say how great his defence fighting is. I needed to kill a character. I started fighting  :boxing: to find out I had picked the wrong one  there is cheeze the next fight over fighting  :boxing:the real bad character I was too oops. So he is saying I will hold them off hurry. I am trying and trying to speed up my round and I keep getting hurry can not hold on much longer. :sos:

So I finally ran over there and my poor cheeze is almost dead  well I came just in time he managed to get health and we ended up defeating the bad characters thus my freedom from the oasis :)

So what am I doing wrong...

First off that Grubb guys is a stinky ucky duty head and the battles to get to him are just not normal.

Second, how is it that I see people with the same leve as I with more health?  I'm at 16 I believe with only about 850 in health points.  I have all the highest gear on that I have in my inventory.

Third, whats up with the starter deck?  Its a pain.  :lolg:

Thanks.

Hey there I put the grub run on hold maybe forever is not worth 2 hours of my time for 30 Exp points and so little gold.

Next each clothing piece is worth so much in health, mana, shields extra. I go with most health for robes then mana then shields. Remeber to check all cothes in your back back, that includes the knife, and ring. Also the necklace carrying on time only spells that you can pick and choose :).
Title: Re: Wizards 101

Also if you go to the card store you can purchasr a novice deck that will let you add more cards. Also remember to use gold cards when needed.
Title: Re: Wizards 101

Well, Mr.Bright comes crawling back, eh? (jk)

When i go and purchase clothing/extras to help improve my stats, I often go for the ones that do the most bang for my buck. Most of the stuff I carry around helps for health, mana, and some extra stuff too. Like the knife I hold gives more health, mana, and some extra damahe on fire attacks.

Also, I came up with a perfect plan for the Grubb run. I figured it out after wathcing alot of movies, and playing video games like crazy. It's a classic plan, we create a diversion.

We need at least 4 people to go in. One person takes one set of three, another the next, untill all battles are filled by a person, so one of us can make the run for it, and try to get to Grubb.

Hey gf, not sure if you knew, but he got a black screen with an error message that last time he was playing.   He contacted  Wizard support, and they have given a resolution that we are awaiting help to perform.

So I have been kinda parked at the computer waiting for this help.. which is why he is not on to answer you here.

Orientation was, well, not exactly as planned, they had so many more show up.. but while not trying to speak for him, I think it did help him.  Just wish we had been able to get more of what they had originally planned for us to hear/see, but couldn't do because they had about 600 more than they expected.

The oreintation was good, but not great. It was more like a giant High School Pep Rally, instead of a helping hand. The stuff It had was helpful, and the tour was ok. (My legs still hurt from the walk around there ;) ). The entire dayw as ok, though.

And yes, after the update on 8/8/08, Wizard no longer wanted to work for me. Good to hear you're level 33, now you can help me ;) After all, I'm still a level 31.

I got to meet the coordinator, who surprisingly (and pleasantly, from a parents view) was SOOO calm instead of frazzled by the extras.  The only hint, (as I had met her early on in the day) was when she kept repeating for the first hour, "these people were supposed to call back and confirm!".

All the students got a call about 10 days ahead, looking to confirm their attendance and if they were bringing parents or "significant other".  So a full third of those that showed, had not bothered to return the call, and were presumed to not be attending.

So it was the students, not the college, that did not follow through, that caused the extra.  (Don't know about you, but I seem to notice there are a LOT of manners that were not passed on to the kids of today.  Not all of them, but certainly a lot more than in my day.  Just plain rude to not RSVP.)

wow 600 more can cause major organizational nightmare. YUP kids today seem to lack respect and manners. I know we have talk our son these and when around us he "performs well" but I know out of our sight he would be one of the 600 that did not RSVP. Must have been a nightmare in more than one way. Congrats to your family for gettting through the mad house.

I thought, after going through a good amount of MooShu, and the rest of game worlds, I thought I'd seen it all. All the regular enemies, all the good guys, and the bad. And, I was on really good terms with the cards, knowing what most of them did, and what they looked like. But these two blew me away. I loved the art work, but what they are really knocked me off my feet. These guys were what I would like to call "Red-Hot Water Breathers."

The first, is the Storm Shark, or is it?

(http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/7645/firesharkwb2.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

That card threw me for a loop. And then, one of my most beloved cards, found a new way to surprise me. This one really knocked me out. I used to call him the Kraken, but what did he do?

(http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/9742/firekrakenob2.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)
(http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/9742/firekrakenob2.671335e53f.jpg) (http://g.imageshack.us/g.php?h=83&i=firekrakenob2.jpg)

What he did is very obvious, he went to te beach, and stayed in the sun too long. Way too long.

These two made me think, wow, these game creators sure know how to put a spin on a couple classic cards. They also made me think, I want to see if there are any more cards that changed their types. Just one eager run into the game after another for me!

These guys that made this game know how to get me into the game more often!

I was just sent an e-mail with the ending of Wizard's Beta test information.

Friday, August 29th at 7:00 a.m. Central Standard Time Is when they will wipe all characters from their servers, and allow us to create new ones.

And the gift for helping them? It really isn't anything special:

I quote "As a very special thank you to all beta test players, you will receive 600 crowns in your account (using your beta test username and password). You can use these crowns to purchase your limited edition "Pioneer Dragon" from Prospector Zeke in Olde Town during this final stage of Beta Test."

What a wonderful gift for helping them out. Something that doesn't really accomplish much at all.

I wish it was. After all, the dragon doesn't really do much for you in the long haul.

School is going better than expected, and it's proving to be a lot of fun. Though it's only the beginning of the year, and there is still much to do, I feel that I'll enjoy it.

And unless I can magically obtain money like that, I figure I'm done with Wizards, at least for now anyway :)

Well I am glad you are enjoying it. And it is probably for the best that school is your major focus right now. I think you may have ended up spending way too much time enjoying wizards. Good luck in your studies :)

Yes, I still play on Wizards. Not as often as I did at first, but still get on, usually once or twice a week.
My main complaint is you have to have a big chunck of time at once for so many of the quests, I would play more if I could save progress and not have to restart instance levels. And I usually play solo (eratic schedule doesn't lend itself to playing with a group, lol). In Dragonspyre that is getting hard and harder to play solo, big big bosses, and more and more long instance levels.

It is the only game my hubby and I actually play together. We just finished Dragonspyre on our 2 characters we made. Both were balance/death. Now that was awesome combo we got through dragonsprye pretty fast.

Now we are doing our beta characters. Much harder go, but I like the challenge. Hubby is not liking it much. He is Life/myth. So his main does not have a mulit hit card.

Mine is Ice/Life. Takes much longer to win battles but I have my stragety worked out. We are on in plaza conquest and grand chasm so if you see us on line we can help. We either our Master characters. So sad we can not go above 50 :(.

I read that if you flee a battle in an instanced level then it does in fact save your spot.  I actually tried it (in Krok so idk if the other levels are different) and it seemed to work fine.  I am so far behind you guys, still in Krok but just got the last quest before Marley.  I am also a Life/Myth Belle, so while I love my minions and ability to heal most, it does make battles l-o-n-g.

Still too pricey for my blood. I may love the game overall, and the way they produce it, but it's just too pricey for me. :(

Hi Belle,
I would love to meet up with you (and hopefully others).  I am really flexible on times, though nights are best.
My characters are:
Autumn DreamFlower (Myth-level 50)
Ellie DreamFlower (Life-level 18)

I haven't heard of the new quest yet but will try to find it.  I haven't bought a house yet, still deciding which (WC or Mooshu) to buy.

If anyone can just set a time, I can be on during some evenings and quite a bit this weekend, so far as I know. ;)
My characters are:
Kimberly Dreamweaver
Kimberly Frostweaver, though I haven't played her much lately.;)

So far I've bought the Mooshu mansion, which I am almost done decorating and now I'm farming to save up for the Marleybone mansion.  About half way there now. ;)

Kim
And, Belle I already have you on my list. lol

All right everyone here is a link to the newest land that should be showing up on the test server in the next few days.

Looks like Grizzleheim makes it to the game before Celestia. :)

Okay...guess what kind of house I want to see now? lol

Ok, I'll admit it! I still play! lol

My name is the same as it was when I started playing the first time. Only I changed schools.

Name: Valkoor Dragonheart
School: Myth

I'm looking forward to hopefully getting to meet all nobs wizards. While I may have just turned to a level 13, I still know my way around the lands, and worlds. I'm trying to be able to get back into the game, but all I have currently is the free trial.

Hope to see you all when you're on! :)

Heads up for those still playing. Today all of our characters can get free party hats for the Wizard101 birthday party. Just log into the website, go into redeem codes and put 'party' in. Get on the game and use a character to redeem that gift. Then log off log back into the website, and repeat for every other character that you want to have one.

They have also decorated the commons, the shopping district and Ravenwood in Wizard City in party decorations!

Title: Re: Wizards 101 - Oct updates
Post by: DreamTulip on October 16, 2009, 09:11 AM
Wizards had a huge update today.  Lots of new items and changes.  Most of it costs gold or crowns.  There are also a bunch of halloween quests.
Also, if you haven't been on lately there is voice overs and quest helper option that point you exactly where you need to go and how many steps away.  It makes things SO much easier.

From the Wizard101 website (lots more details there):
"Welcome to the October 2009 Patch Notes. There are quite a few updates including Wizard Mounts, a new Crowns Shop, New Elixirs, Henchmen, Seamstress, Gifting, Housing Previews, Transmutation Crafting, and much much more."

Let me know if anyone plays and wants to meet up in game.  I have a grandmaster, a level 42, and a few baby wizards < level 10.  I can send a friend code. :)

I was playing on the test realm and the updates are awesome. Can not wait to get my dragon to fly around :) Please send me a friends code as I have a baby death character as well as a fire 42. The too other are grand masters and one I only play with family.

Yes, they really are nice and no noticable lag as a result of it all.  I can't decide which mount to get yet.  I sent a code to you Belle, I think I did it right.  I am happy to send it to anyone on here, I just didn't want to post it public.
We finally beat that new grandmaster tower quest, the boss cheats so much!
All of my wizards have the second name "DreamFlower" with various first names.

Just wanted to drop a note here, that Green Mimi, Lisa Ann on Facebook :), is wanting to have another meet and greet this weekend for us to renew contacts or add newer characters to everyone's friends list.  We're hoping Celestia will be open soon this summer and that will surely help people. :)  I know for myself I have many on my ice character's list and very few of you on my fire girl's list.  :)  I know she will want some help through Dragonspyre at some point. :)
