Title: Do the pets get tired?
Post by: Purpleduck on June 07, 2008, 08:25 AM
I have twice now, experienced Brownie just stop following me?

Thankfully last night, I was on The Island, so I felt comfortable to finish exploring it, not like he had a lot of choices if he wanted to leave :lolg:

(I haven't done but one or two missions.. will I learn about this when I reach the mission where I have to create a dog with some silly name?)

I am not fully sure on this.  Cats stop following if someone Pats or pokes them - then I am not sure why they don't start again when commanded.  Cats have one level of happyness I think and two levels of displeasure.  One is discontent (!) the other is mean and ugly and involves growling and hissing.   :rofl1:

I may have to go back on to check that out. LOL

I don't know. It seems Ohana forgot his tricks over night, so I have to train him again..
I think I shouldn't have let him wear those aviators. He thinks he owns the place!

Disvaclub had my answer, thanks gf!  :flwr:

It seems if someone pets your dog, your pet will stop.

She told me to type:  /pet  , and that that would show the commands.  I haven't tried it yet, but looks like I am not the only one needing this info.. :lolg: Coral

I was aware of /pet to get the commands - but cats don't follow commands and are limited to stay, here, and follow and chose on their own if they will listen.  I am surprised they don't run off to a corner and go to sleep after you say here.

Oh great, now I have to teach my dog to find purple feathers, not bite Kat back when she bites, and to not pinch any gnome high.knee.

I think, you might be able to remove finding the feathers from your list.  Yesterday when I got on, I found that Brownie knew how to beg, which is adorable!  But just a bit later, I got a message that said Brownie now knew how to spin, which is even cuter!

So, I had him spin all over the place and his "wind" from spinning gathered the feathers!  I just have to be sure I have him do it in the right spots, or else the pile gets blown all over again! :lolg:

A few pet tips:

- Your pet will stop following you if you do not pat it after too long.  (It wants lovin'.)
- The more you command and pat your pet to show it care and affection, the more tricks your pet can learn.
- If you pat another player's pet enough, it will soon come to know you as well as its "owner."

Tricks that I know of so far (in order learned): follow, here, stay, beg, spin, jump, chase tail, side jump, and shake jump (which I find entertaining to watch).

As for cats: I thought cats don't listen to ANY human instruction, no?  :rofl3:  (okay, okay, so I'm a life-long dog lover!  I know, I know, cats are people too, err, something like that.)
