Title: Elf Island Announces Stimulus Plan (Pay to Play) End of Beta
Post by: Bugdozer on February 20, 2009, 06:22 PM
Hello,

As the light grows dim on Elf Island's beta stage a new dawn is arising. Upon this new age is the option to become a paying member of Elf Island which will unlock many cool additions, provide discounted prices, and more activities to interact with while playing on the Island. As a benefit to the current beta users, Elf Island is releasing it's Stimulus Plan which will provide us with a discounted rate of the full year and 6 month subscriptions. Please use this thread to discuss the Stimulus Plan. The following is a message about the plan from braunsweiger, the owner of Elf Island.

##########

Overview of the Elf Island Stimulus Plan

Elf Island is preparing to officially launch on April 1. To recognize all of our users, we are offering a special offer for those users who sign up prior to April 1. This early bird special called the Elf Island Stimulus Package will last 28 days starting on March 3 and ending on March 31.

The special pricing gives you 40% off a full year price with the ability to add additional family members or users for only $10 per new user, up to 4 additional users.

Pricing:
$27.95 a year (that is about $2.33 a month!)
$17.95 for 6 months
Add an additional Family Member or Account for $10, up to 4 accounts.

If you sign up for this offer before April 1, your credit card will not be charged until March 31st. You will have full access to the site as a member starting April 1.

The cost is reasonable at <$3 month, but idk it just hasn't been really engaging to me so far.  I have tried to give it a fair chance, and have participated in a handful of events but I'm just not totally convinced.
Does anyone know if the following things we can do now will stop once Beta is over for free players?:

GoodQuests and Learn the Secret
Exclusive Parties and Gifts
Up to 500 Buddies
Unlock your Home
Awards
Sell Goods Back
Exclusive Multiplayer Games

This thread at EI Forums http://www.elfislandfansite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2682 should clear all that right up  :notme: :??: :rofl1:

Well, ok, maybe just a couple of things it will clear up  :lolp:

The cost does seem reasonable but I don't know what I'll do. I "up-graded" my home to the forest one and ever since then I cannot see the animation in my own room (bluebird fly from nest, butterflies from log, mushrooms and flowers animate) - even the tiki that sparkles is missing in my room for me.  Yet, my husband can log in on the same computer I use and he can see it all with his character. Doesn't matter which computer I use, I see none of it in my room. Hosts there tell me they can see it and I should "wait a few seconds for it to load"  :??:  it never does.
