Yes...it's back.  Rather than resurrecting the long, old and tired thread about this, I decided to start a new one so it would be easier to follow.

I've heard rumblings from other people for the last couple hunts about them saying the line right...but the second person winning.  I've now seen it myself.  In fact, I saw it around 3 times today!  Here's a pic from the hunt today:



Notice how the first person said it right and the line appeared...but the second person won...and their line had a "!" at the end of it, AND 'HOST' was not capitalized!  Also, remember that ONLY ONE PERSON IN THE ROOM IS SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO SAY THE HOSTS TITLE ONCE THE HOST APPEARS.

Please take the time to report this bug whenever/ifever you see it.  I reported these today even though I wasn't the one who got shafted...in hopes that VFK would award the rightful winner the award.  I ask that you please take the time to do the same.  If necessary, take a screen shot and paste it into Microsoft Paint and come back to it after the hunt to report it (which is typically what I do).  The last time this happened, it went on for months...before being brought up on another forum...which resulted in it being fixed within a day or 2.

Oh my goodness!  I had no idea this was so wide spread!  This happened to me today!  I won, but I was the second person to say it correctly (and I know the example you posted isn't from the room I was in because I didn't say it with an "!" after Dragon).   

After I won, I sent a help report to staff asking them to review it because I felt like the person who said it before me should have received the prize. I told them my words came up with blue around them but someone said it correctly before me.  This is the response I received back from them:



I don't understand it.  I saw the girl's words come up before mine and they looked totally perfect!  Unfortunately she popped out of the room before I could give her the prize and she's not on my friends list.  I hope she eventually won in a different room.

Did you also send a picture so they could see that the other person said it first?  If not, in the future try to get a quick screenshot and send it to the following email address along with a complete explanation of what happened:

They can't dispute a picture.   Most times I send a very brief help report in game right away, and end it with "I will send in a screenshot after the hunt is over".

I would also argue with them a little over the fact that you saw the other person say the line.  Again:  only ONE person in the room is supposed to be able to say the hosts title once they enter the room.

(hugs) again for trying to do the right thing.  It's refreshing to see honesty being displayed by VFK players.  Too often, I see the opposite.

I tried to get the screen shot, but I wasn't thinking and copied something else before pasting the picture.     But yeah, that is the best method to "prove" the error.

Did they respond to your messages?  I wonder if they ever correct the error or if they just always go with the one that pops up in blue, no matter what.

Since it is a computer that senses the answer, there might be an extra space that is invalidating the answer? I have had this happen in quests, where I had an extra space before the sentence starts where it wouldn't advance the quest.

We had one instance today where Hero was playing, and Dragon appeared and his words went away, but nothing happened.  He then pasted the line 3 MORE TIMES with the words going away each time...then another persons line appeared in blue.  We asked them to check the logs, and they replied that he came in fourth??  LOL.  I think their program might have the same problem as the 'ride competition award fiasco'. 

In the past, they have awarded the prize to the rightful winner.

Golden:  I understand what you're saying, but the lines are being said correctly with no extra spaces before or after.  Even if that were the case, there is still the proof of a faulty program again because of the extra character being allowed at the end of the line (the "!"), and the fact that 'HOST' was not capitalized, and also that another person was also allowed to say the hosts title.  This all proves beyond doubt that the program is having the same problem as before...after months of no problems.  It's time for Enigma and Age to follow Dragon again and fix the problem.

I have seen pictures on TWO other placees where people have put their host hunt win in their signatures, as they are proud of their win.  Only problem: in both cases the "winner" has said the phrase wrong on one of they ways that has been seen here....sheesh.

How tempted I am to go "Ummm....excuse me, but do you realize you are broadcasting to everyone that you won a prize by NOT saying the phrase correclty?".  But I wont...

Sunday:  yeah, they need to spend a little time fixing up the hunts.  It never used to be like this when Harmony and Fin did it.

Just letting everyone know that the bug is continuing.  Here's a screenshot of a round today which someone sent me:



Notice that even though it looks like the top person had an extra space in front of the correct line, the line still appeared.  Only the winner during a round is supposed to be able to say the hosts title.  This still apparently hasn't been fixed.  Just a heads up.

I said it today during the Host Hunt and it went through, but someone else won.  How does that happen?!?!?!  Also I tried again in another room and these people keeping talking about stupid things and even said a cuss word and didn't get banned for it.  They kept freezing me up by talking, changing clothes over and over again and even using fairy (not turning it off and flying around the room).  Also they kept sending trade and friend requests and they already had their Snow Shoes.  I seriously liked the old host games better!

Um, huh, how is that possible if I said it and it went through?  Also I was in the room with her (The Crossroads) cause she put up a message saying where she was.

That is a bummer, Crazy.  Those people doing that stuff in the room were most undoubtedly doing those things on purpose to either force people to leave because of lag, or to DC them.  I'd bet good money one of their clones won in that room.  It's a 'strategy' I'm seeing used more and more often.  I think it's......................way uncool.  One might refer to it as 'dirty pool'.

I was never able to have it go through before even when she was in the room if someone had already won, but c'est la vie.

I don't doubt this for a second because when I became unfrozen she had already came and a girl standing near the talkers won.  I even tried to ignore them, but was swamped with requests for friendship and trades that it was very hard to get them all.  Oh well, I gave up on the hunt after that because if people like that need it so badly then I don't need the drama.  I hardly win Host Prizes because of the dirty pool so I am use to it anyway.  I just wish Host Games were back so everyone had a chance to win and could have a shot at the prize.  I know it won't be as rare, but I just like the items, I don't care if they are rare or not.

If you get a trade request during a host hunt, announce that you are not trading.  If they persist, report them.  If they send a friend request, click the 'x' in the top right of the box to make it go away.  They won't be able to friend request you again, and you can decline the request when you log back on the next time   Same with trades, really.  Just leave the box open or 'x' it out.  Not sure about whether that keeps the trade request 'active' or not...haven't tested it.  Still, if you've made it known that you don't accept trades and they request a trade anyways, it's report time.

Ty, I didn't know about Xing the box out.  I usually hit decline and they ask over and over again.    I usually report if it gets really bad, but then I am also missing the hunt at the same time so in some ways their plan still works.  Anywho, I did report the guy who cussed and he stayed right there with no ban so I just gave up.

Kay.  Finally caught up with my pictures all the way back before Christmas.  Blech!

Now:  host hunts.  Sigh.  Not sure what to think of this anymore.  I've seen their system mess up numerous times, provided I don't know how many pictures, etc.  They fixed it once, and now it's broken again.  The latest response I got to my last report (see a few posts back in this thread) was this:

Um...a couple things here.  First, you can see incorrect attempts...but as far as I know, you are NOT supposed to be able to say HOST_Dragon if you're not the winner.  I will test this in the near future if I get the chance.

Also, there have been correct attempts recently that didn't win!  Also...has anyone actually had ANY time to say a single word to Dragon?  She usually says something to the effect of 'congrats, bye!'.  Poof.  Not even time to type a TY, let alone chat!

I know there is a disconnect between the office (who I believe screen the help reports) and the developers.  The response came from the office.  So the question is...how to ask Enigma if this is correct?  I don't want to upset office staff with trying to go over their head...but this still needs fixed, and I believe the office people to be incorrect about what is supposed to happen.  The blast we all get between rounds is as follows:



Well that leaves very little to the imagination.  It MUST be said EXACTLY!  So...when is exact not exact?  When soon is soon?  I was also told on a separate occasion by the office that you can say anything after the word Dragon and the program will ignore it.  'Exact'?  I'm confused and not sure where to go from here...

I said it today and it went through, but nothing came up and I was like where is the blue thing and why isn't it showing up?  Then someone else says it and the blue bubble appears and I was like no way he definitely said it after me so I wrote a report.  I got a message back saying I was third.  That is not possible because I said it and it went through AND there was no blue bubble till later on.  I mean I can see later on when she appeared in a different room I was in and it went through, but I saw the other girl's bubble right away so we must of said it at the same time, but NO WAY did I say it in third place.  If that was true the blue bubble would of appeared right away and not later on for someone else.  NOT FAIR!

Ok, sorry I had to get that off my chest.      This is not the first time it has happened to me and it just gets annoying.

I feel your pain, people.  Flame despises host hunts, too.  Too much cheating.  Too many people 'gaming the system' (many times at the expense of others).  Time for a new avenue to win prizes instead of this mess.  The replies I've received to my help reports lately on the host hunt bug have been LESS than satisfactory.  It's becoming my opinion that they are trying to sweep any problems with the hunts under the rug now.  It doesn't even matter if I send screen shots anymore.  .It even got a response to one of her reports not long ago when she was beat out by someone who said it wrong...it said that "capitalization is not evaluated when determining the winner of the HOST Hunt"     I'm trying to figure out why they've decided to ignore their OWN BLASTS which SPECIFICALLY STATE that the correct phrase NEEDS TO BE SAID EXACTLY!!!  Sigh.  I'm about to give up.  I just don't get it.

Then there is the separate issue of the same people winning 4, 5 or even more times EVERY HUNT.
