Space Pirate Scoring
Pink:
OK, my fellow pirates! This scoring system/credits thing is driving me BONKERS! I'd like to work on improving my game, but I can't figure out how the scoring works. Is it better to vaporize or not? Is it better to fire like crazy or just fire a few well aimed shots?
I took screenshots of my most recent game. Please don't laugh at my score, LOL! Anyone up to playing a game against me? Haha! :drunk:
So looking at the screenshots, can ANYONE MAKE SENSE OF ANY OF THIS? I'm not finding a pattern. I swear, I'm sitting here right now with a calculator, LOL. Anytime I figure out one round and think I've got it, the same rules don't apply to the others.... so I'm STUMPED!
Maybe if we all put our heads together, the light may dawn?? :sos:
ScarlettPixie:
Hi! I am in the confused club too! :lolp:
KrazyPete:
I'm confused too but here's some more data for your consideration: :hmmmm:
I think that your opponent builds up a hidden point value as they shoot and make hits. You can then earn those points by hitting them. That would explain why you can vaporize another ship and not earn any points. If that ship never fired it's cannons then it hasn't built up any internal value. This is probably something VFK built in to prevent us from just blowing our mules away for credits.
More points seem to be earned when there is a good volley of fire between the ships in a round. That way both ships are building up internal value and earning points for their hits. Again, probably intentional since there is no benefit for good players to blow away newbs. Players should seek out players with similar abilities.
This may also explain why math on the scores is difficult to work out. For example: If a hit were worth 5 points and you hit your opponent 6 times you might expect to get 30 points. But if that opponent had built up 10 points in internal point value then that's all you get. At the end of the round you would be left trying to figure out how you got 10 points from 6 hits.
flamanar:
Wow....this IS confusing. :??:
Flamanar...gets out his abacus... :hmmmm:
Pink:
Thanks for the experimentation, Pete! Looks like you played a few games with your mule, LOL!
I think you're definitely onto something. I noticed in your scoring that you didn't actually earn any points at all no matter how many times you hit your opponent until the opponent began firing back.
Very interesting... :hmmmm:
