New problem with Host Hunt you should be aware of

I am actually seeing a error on the first person's saying. Notice that the I found HOST_Dragon, although correctly said, has an extra space between found and HOST, while the second person, though not in capital letters has the space apart each word correctly.
For the second mishap... um, clueless on what happened there. He was saying it correctly. So... :wtf:

Right. My point in the first pic I posted today was that a person was selected as the winner by the host computer...even when saying the phrase COMPLETELY wrong:
"I found host_dragon"
instead of:
"I found HOST_Dragon"
Also: if only the winner is allowed to say "host_dragon" AT ALL, then the first person...no matter how many spaces before the HOST_Dragon part...should not have been able to say the hosts title...at all. That first line should have never appeared on the screen.
The second pic concerning the map: yeah...he won by a long shot. LOL

At least people are able to find hosts. I think they need to rethink some think for when people actually find them though, and maybe actually have a popup in game to say when it started or ended.
I found Dragon, but after the hunt had apparently already ended.
Happy:
I have remained pretty quiet on this entire Host Hunt situation. Although I play SW a lot more then VFK, the host hunt is one of the many reasons for it. Recent reactions to the host hunt have caused me to finally share my opinion on the host hunts, VFK in general, and how I handle the frustrations related to them.
Host Hunts:
Even when I see an announcement on these boards for a host hunt, I usually stay clear.
Some of you may think I am crazy. Who would run from an announced host hunt? Well friends, those host hunts remind me too much of Dreams Month in VMK. During dreams month I saw far too many friends waiting around for hours on end, day after day, only to be disappointed time and time again. There was so much hurt and tears as a result of dreams month. There was my niece who just didn't understand the concept. A very good friend that signed in for EVERY EVENT, the entire month only to be disappointed time and time again. (Don't ask her how many times she won. It is not a pretty conversation.)
I see the VFK host hunts as similar--but WORSE on one regard. The good thing is in the VFK version players can not go AFK. The bad thing is in the VMK version each player in the room was awarded a prize.
My Host Hunt suggestion to VFK is as follows:
Why not award a prize to the first 5 or first 10 players that say the phrase?
If the game is supposed to be all about kids and fun, why be so tight on the prizes?
So thats my 2 cents on Host Hunts...and how I would remedy the situation.
Emailing and Telephoning VFK (rant):
For those of you that call VFK, I give you a lot of credit. My experience in calling and emailing VFK in the past was less then satisfactory. Those that have been on these boards a long time know that early on I detected a few errors on the images in AWA. Since the game is somewhat educations based, I wrote VFK several times. One day I received a reply. The reply stated the fix was done. It was not. Eventually, I was on the phone with them for something else. The time of the phone call was shortly after the Fireworks Game was released.
I spoke with 3 people. I spent well over an hour on the phone with a developer discussing that and other things. I was assured it would be fixed and soon. Not. It is not rocket science to edit text on an image. Just a few months ago did I track Vintage down in game to get it resolved. This was after I brought up the issue AGAIN. It is my understanding the images had been changed just not installed.
I'd talk to Vintage in game about an issue in game, rather than call or email. In my eyes she seems to actually gets things done. (Cheers Vintage. :2thunbs: ) Also I would work more to change the process, a long term solution rather than to get the prize earned. In the end the long term solution would help many and reduce frustration.
Other public announcements from VFK:
I take them with a grain of salt.
During the telephone conversation mentioned above, again shortly after Fireworks was released, I said--something similar to and when pirates comes out next players will be really excited. I was told (and shared this with only a few friends) checkers would be the next player to player game. So think back about any hype you saw for Pirates and a Market Trading Game releases --BEFORE checkers was released. :notme: From what I was told checkers was some how the background or technology for player verses player gaming.
So, for those of you that do call VFK, good luck. Maybe they have changed. However, the lack of a simple frequently updated schedule of events on the home page leads me to a more pessamistic view.
Okay so it is more like there is my dollar---not 2 cents. Until I see changes, I just stay back and try not to get to involved in the game.
Unfortunately players have little control as to what any of these games do or the changes they make. In SW there was a recent change that I found quite upsetting. I posted on their official forum I a simple..."My avatar name (happy) does not reflect my mood." I logged out. I did not sign in for a couple days. If you are a dedicated player, they will notice your absence. If they really care, they may even contact you or publically ask all players how they would change things.
Happy steps off her soap box :sb: .

You're allowed to rant, no matter if you play SW more than VFK. :)
I will say this. I think VFK is trying, my opinion. Look at how many Host Hunts there have been, even just announced on this Forum. Look at how many times a particular Host Hunt prize is handed out. Lately, it has NOT been a new prize at the beginning of the month. VFK changes the prize whenever they feel like it. Maybe they are looking at actually how many items are in circulation, and when they hit a mark, they change it? idk
Therefore in my eyes, VFK is trying to not have so many "rare" things. Therefore, allowing more players to enjoy them. Whether by trading for them, or by winning the prizes themselves in the events. I've traded for host prizes. It's not difficult. Some things I didn't have to give an arm and a leg for either. ;) I've gifted a fair share away too. No reason for them to sit around and collect dust if I already have 1! Some of these people have gadzillions of these prizes and just want something else they don't already have - so trade.
This goes for buyables too. The only things they have really taken out of stores are Holiday stuff and Football stuff, I think? In my opinion, that is to be expected. And I think you can still buy St. Patty's and Easter stuff in the Gift Shop. :lolg: And of course Thanksgiving and Christmas outfits in Autumn Imports. That again proves to me that VFK is trying. No "rare".
Do I enjoy having to wait hours on end for a Host, only to end up not seeing one? Nope. I've done it, it sucks. But, that's the name of the game. You win some, you lose some. In the end there are A LOT of Host Hunt prizes out there. So it's a choice I have to make on if I want to play the game or not.
I like both the teleporter games and the host hunt games. Lag can sometimes get the best of me in teleporter games, and therefore I might not like them as much. Sometimes there is no lag, and it goes smooth for me. But then I also don't like having to wait around for hours for a Host to show up for a Hunt either. Again, the name of the game.
Does it remind me of VMK Dreams Month? Sometimes. But, I do feel VFK is putting more of those prizes out in the game, and not reserving them only for a select few. ;)
I don't know how awarding 5-10 players that say the phrase would work. I would love it, but idk how it would work. That was what VFK kinda had done, before this new software host thing. It was the first player that said it. But, it was quite difficult for the Host to try and manage. Without going back and looking at chat logs, I honestly don't know how they could tell who said what first. That would take A LOT of time.
Oh Happy, I do believe that the Wren in AWA is finally fixed. ;) I played a game the other night, and I couldn't believe my eyes, but forgot to take a screen shot.
Communication is everything. And that still lacks from VFK. An official calendar would be wonderful. Homepage announcements that did not change, or made sense sometimes, would be even better.
