Well I wasn't in single-user mode, but I did notice lag was terrible.  Even just to log into the game took forever it seemed.  I am glad to hear it wasn't only me though.

-------
A very weird prize choice indeed!    ???    Again just glad it wasn't only me that thought so!   :laugh2:

Phew.  At least I know it wasn't just me for both of those as well!   :lolg:

Not sure what is up with the late night activities, Bell.  No communication again...which means I never assume anything...no matter how late.  I've learned the hard way too many times.  :waveb:

I learned a hard lesson from the scavenger hunts. Do them as soon as they are out. End of story.

Agreed, Pix.  As stinky as that is, it's the only way to protect ourselves in case VFK decides to pull an activity or item unannounced. (hugs again)

I must say that today I had little to NO lag doing the other half of my people.  Not sure what the deal was last night, but spent an awful amount of time last night trying to get my people through it.  Hope it's fixed now for good...whatever it was.

Agreed, I try and do the Hunt right away too.  VMK taught me I'd better be sure to buy things I like in the shops when they first are released too, because you never know when they might be pulled.

I am extremely upset with this hunt! They has stated and I quote Enigma that the hunts will be weekly! I did not even finish my people as I thought I had time and now this?

I do not have words to even say. :bm:

I SO Agree!! I posted her EXACT "quoted" screen shot and there were MANY witnesses on the map at that time....
(I promise to NEVER post another screen shot of anything said by staff or hosts.....thought I was helpful but gave many including myself false information and hope...sorry)
At the time she/Enigma said NOTHING ABOUT GOLD items ...just they would be weekly and WE TOO like you were glad for the rest and planned on having the week...OH WELL...another 'change of mind' ??? please feel free to use her quote? when those that see and know her ... : Do
(I teach and tell all my kids not to tell untruths and to stand by their word.....) no wonder they quit playing? :(
How many avatars CAN I keep alive??

sigh, why can't they just set up a daily news bulletin on the main page. And actually use it to say when things start and when they end.

I have offered my services as a writer to VFK on several occasions. I don't expect any compensation for it.  Would just like to help a game that I have come to love and have defended since day one.

But no.... it's a black hole, and I never hear anything back (which again... is why they need my services, LOL!)

I could understand them perhaps not wanting to share access to their main site with a stranger.  Who knows what I could do with it ;) (just kidding!)  but I could even do up my own page, host it online, and all they'd need to do is link their main site to mine with a button entitled "News" or whatever.  BUT they'd have to communicate with me what is going on with host games, hunts, quests, etc.; otherewise, that page would be useless.  Again, it comes down to COMMUNICATION.  I cannot fathom how they are running their company...  Someone needs to step in and organize them.

I think you may have found part of the problem concerning the lack of communication: organization.  There seems to be a breakdown of communication between developers and 'regular staff'.  This breakdown used to be EXTREMELY visible when you used to ask different staff in game the same question...and get a different answer from each one.  They've cut way back on that (although it still happens occasionally), and now staff will typically say "I don't know" if they don't know.  Perfect example was the other day when I asked Age about scavenger hunts, and she said "I don't know".  While I sincerely appreciate her honesty, and would rather be told the truth than just any old answer, she SHOULD have known (not faulting her...she obviously wasn't privy to the information).  Too much information is still obtained by word of mouth.  Worse, the word of mouth is coming from the players 'finding things' (or by 'staff stalkers'...which is a topic for a completely different thread, lol)!  This really shouldn't be taking place in this fashion.  I'm not sure if the developers are holding back info from regular staff, or whether they're 'flying by the seat of their pants' and just barely squeaking things out when they hope to release them (the 'gold cat' made me really wonder).  It's all very baffling why regular staff don't even have game information.  This leads me to believe that updating the VFK webpage would be totally useless...because nobody (or very few) people know much of what is going on or coming out!  If they don't know, then there's nothing they can put on the webpage...other than 'soon'... :td:

I'm also not sure about Harmony.  I believe that they leave it completely up to her as to when and what type of hunt she wants to do (I've heard this before but can't remember where, so I won't list a reference).  I'm not sure VFK receives advance warning from her.  This is speculation, though and not fact.

I guess with all the kids playing the game, they feel they can't put on the webpage "this weekend we hope to release item 'X'".  I know many kids will accept that as fact...and not even read the word 'hope'.  They would be breaking down the walls that weekend and making a huge stink because "VFK said item 'X' would be out today".  I guess the behaviour of many players might affect VFK's silence on many issues.  If Space Age is a few hours late, you have masses of ppl standing on the tab chanting in caps "WE WANT SPACE AGE, WE WANT SPACE AGE!"...among other very naughty things.  :uhuh:  Sigh.  If VFK would just initiate a mass 'blast' announcement saying they're having some last minute difficulties and please bear with, it would be better than to have any number of conspiracy theories be born and posted online.  Worse, you have masses of people trying to 'hunt down' in game staff and bombard them CONSTANTLY with questions of "when", "how much longer", etc.

Maybe their goal is to get people to visit and remain at their site as long as possible.  One way to do that would be to provide the smallest amount of info.  The player is left with no recourse other than to sit on game as long as possible in hopes of not missing whatever MIGHT potentially come out.
------
Pardon the above 'brain dump'.  In the end, there really is no excuse for a consistent breakdown of communications within VFK or without.  Players who have to guess at everything...or feel they need to be on game every moment so as not to miss anything...I don't believe are 'happy' players.  It leads to rumors, guesswork and conspiracy theories.  If some info is leaked to only a few people, it also leads to jealousy and feelings of 'favoritism'...which pits player against player.

The cliff notes for the above can be found at any local bookstore...in the clearance section.  :shy:

Right, so they need ONE person as the liason or whatever.

The developers communicate their plans to this person via email or phone - new items being released and when, new rooms, scavenger hunts... I'd like to know about interactive items and how they work.... Also things like the mini-games.  Why can't the developers communicate how that space pirating score actually works??  I'm totally baffled trying to figure out that score system!

The hosts also need to communicate their plans to this one person - when they plan on running their host games... perhaps on a weekly basis.  I'm sure Harmony should be able to come up with a schedule each week.  The date and times of their game and/or host hunt.

WHY is this so freaking difficult for VFK to comprehend??  One person.  That's all they need.

But you're right, Flame.  I'm beginning to think they do it this way on purpose!  I know I spend HOURS on VFK just hanging around in my room waiting for a host hunt so I can get that blasted visor!  (and yes, finally won it during Harmony's unscramble game... after about the 8th word, lol)  So perhaps that is what they're after??   :td:

It could also be a 'power struggle' type of thing, too.  Might be that the developers don't feel that it's important that regular staff know what their timelines are?  Completely guessing here, but due to a complete lack of a concrete reason...guessing is all that's available.  Since it appears that the developers don't work in the same office as regular staff, not sure that possibility can be ruled out.

Could be any number of reasons, actually.  LOL.  Still comes down to the fact that regular staff doesn't have answers...which they should.  They are the connection between the players and the game.  If staff can't get the answers from the developers, I'm guessing again that nobody will be able to.

Flamanar...completely guessing there, and just my viewpoint...looking into the fishbowl from the outside... :hmmmm:

Have we not had this type of converstation before ....................................... Oh yes VMK. What is it with computer developers and their lack of communications. Blue monkey tore my head off when I suggested that they lack good social skills. UMMMMMMMMMMMMM sound familar.

Actually, you know what, I'm not even going to put the blame on the developers.  I seriously doubt they are independent workers doing whatever they decide to do whenever they want.  SOMEONE has to be over them telling them what items to create next, etc.  That's the person that I hold responsible.  It's their job to communicate with the developers, communicate with the staff, and then communicate with WHOEVER it is that does the website (and we know someone is capable of updating the site bc they change the Sunday quest info on a regular weekly basis...).

I haven't looked at a time zone map, but I wonder if one group is based here in the U.S. and the other group is in Australia??  Maybe they don't communicate simply because one group might be done for the work day while the other is just starting?

There's still email however...   :sos:

Anyways... just noticed the front page was updated with news about Father's Day and a new game (??) - Night Fighters in Space Age.

If they can do it now... why can't they be consistent?  At least they're trying, I suppose...

I don't think they're trying.  The announcement for the ball and 'Night Fighters' (I guess a new game) are things they normally post ahead of time.

We don't know anything about the scavenger hunts.  Gold release.  Future host hunts.

I think that you're correct in that there is one person who controls the 'everything'.  That person needs to share that info with the players.  JMHO.

Here is my two cents... as in VFK, cannot afford more... :rofl1:

It could be staff and developers are told last minute. When I was working for Disney, most of the things were hushed and only managers knew until they had permission to tell us the information and then when we were allowed to say it. So, VFK could be following this type of deal with the information. However, I do believe more communication is needed.
