Storm Troopers invade VFK!
Happy:
Well, I'm not sure it these avatars are just walking around to promote the game or if the game will involve random players in these costumes always wandering VFK. I'm really not sure how much I would enjoy VFK if at any point in time a "storm trooper" could just barge in to say...a nice relaxing fairy flower field.
I'm all for having a space type costume in VFK. I will admit this is not the look or atmosphere I was expecting.

Yes me too I do not like having a game of shooting at people. I had no problem with the guns in the merchantile store because that is how they were sold back then. And as settlers you sure needed a gun back then. But not now or even in the future.
The only thing I think I could understand would be paint ball. As for lazers not a good idea. Lasers can cause harm if shone in the wrong way. Most kids do nto know this either.
I guess it is hard now a days. As children we never had to be afraid of outside violence the worst we dealt with at least where I came from was bullies. Todays sad state of the world a world so far away from the childhood most of us had. As a kid I would have loved to be a storm trouper going after Luke Skywalker :). We never read or heard about mass shootings. So it would just be innocent to us. But not now a days there is way to much violence.
KrazyPete:
I'll buck the trend here and say that I don't really have problem with "storm troopers" carrying around laser guns. I think a laser tag game sounds pretty cool. And while I don't want to see VFK turn into GTA, you can take the "non-violent" approach too far as well. I played with GI Joe when I was a kid and I've never owned a real gun. I don't think a little laser battle in VFK is really going to hurt anyone.
Just my opinion :ls:
Adventuredaz:
I'll stand with KrazyPete on this, I too have no problem with it in general. If you look at the other games that have some type of gun hamlessly present in their game and get a free pass and look at the more violent games with guns - on the face of it this does not seem like an issue here.
They are Perhaps a little out of place and against statements they have made in the past but not an issue. It's not like it would be the first time they did something different then they had said and we always knew space pirtates were coming and space age but had no idea what that would be. If we are lucky the storm troopers successfully round up the horses, everyone knows thats how they did it in the old west.

I think everyone is is entitled to their opinion, however there have been massive amounts of "legitimate" studies which show that video games do not promote violence, and if anything actually lower it. Everyone has thier advocacy groups who come up with stats however there was a multi year study done at Harvard, yes the Harvard, which actually put to rest a lot of the complaints. Actually going as far with providing the statistics that as video game sales have risen since 1993, the amount of violence amongst youths is actually declining. In all actuality anyone who uses video games as an excuse is doing just that, coming up with an excuse. I am always of the mindset that parenting is the core of instilling the right values into your childrens mind, and using video games or what is shown in movies is just a cop out.
As an example...as a child I had, water guns, cap guns, BB guns, played laser tag, played video games with guns, even went hunting with my dad. 20 years later I don't own a gun, I don't want one in my house, or have a remote thought of violence in my mind. I am sure there are tons of people out there with similar backgrounds and similar results, so all those theories are just excuses and nothing more.
I am sure many feel differently than I do, but I just get fed up with how people are so quick in society to blame things today rather than taking responsibility. (Note: comments are not directed to anyone here, just my rant on the softening of society)
Personally I feel that aside from marraige and drivers licenses there should be parenting licenses put in place as well.
This all reminds me of something funny Chris Rock once said....we don't need gun control, we need Ammo Control. It isn't the gun that is the problem. If it cost someone $10000 for one bullet, they would sure make sure who they were going to shoot was worth it.
Ok off my soapbox for now.....at the end of the day I don't even think these things look like Storm Troopers but rather direct rip offs of Master Chief, the main character in the popular XBOX series Halo. That was the first thing I noticed and said, "ahh another item pulled right from another popular game, here we go again!"
Lastly as these topics come up on the forum....just a love for how they can be debated rationally and maturely....Go NoBS!
