RosieC:
My doc recently told me to quit the diet soda. The caffeine was making my blood pressure go up and the sodium was making me retain water also making my blood pressure go up. This was from a 2 to 3 can a day habit. (yes this blood pressure problem was resolved before the drug interaction problem  lol)
I ran across this article at MSN.com and found it helpful and interesting.

Interesting stuff for sure.  Makes you think.   :hmmmm:

I knew about the vitamin water.  Often wondered why that stuff tasted so good.   :notme:   So much for that, of course it would taste better than regular water due to the sugars in it.  hehe   :lolg:

For water I use Cristal Light or the Walmart brand which ever is cheaper. The peach tea flavor is really good, and my kids love the Wallmart brand Fruit punch. (although it is red so be careful of spills lol) If I'm really craving a soda I drink Diet Rite. It's not bad tastes like a diet coke, and there is  0 calories 0 carbs 0 caffine 0 sodium. Of course now that my blood pressure is back down I do have a Dr. Pepper once and a while (my elixir of life! ) but I try not to have it in the house.  :)

I don't know about you but the water here is NASTY!  LOL   Have to flavor it or filter it.

Yep Rosie, I do the exact same thing.  I use either Crystal Light or the Wal-Mart brand sugar free mixes.  Usually the Wal-Mart brand though.  Grape is my personal favorite, or the Lemon Iced Tea mix.

I have never really liked water at all, unless it's flavored.  Even bottled water.  You'll catch me dropping in those single servings of mix, while out and about with a bottle of water.  Those were great taking to WDW.  Just add those to a bottle of water ~ Yum!

Enjoy your Dr. Pepper ever now and then, I'm sure it does some good to have a treat every once in awhile.   :thumb:  Diet Rite soda isn't all that terrible, I agree.  Plus, they do have lots of flavors to choose from too.   :)

Kat:
Thanks for the link Rosie!  I am a Dr. Pepper fan also!  I don't keep soft drinks at home though, I only drink tea and water here.  I do drink them at work, but I try to switch off with water to keep it to a limit.
